I think if I was to make a detailed list Alice has more songs that are "classic" during his solo years than the band years ...

well, a "classic" by definition implies that it endures in time as well as being well-known...so, if we strictly stick to this, there are fewer classics in the solo period compared to the band period. That doesn;t of course correlate with the quality: I personally always thought that quality increased in the solo period.

So I'll just say that most of WTMN, and the songs Go to hell, From the inside, He's back, Poison, Hey Stoopid, Feed my Frank can surely be considered classics by now.

there is also the term instant classic tho :)

Classic has not much to do with being "old" or you could say any output 30+ years old is classic, As for Well known, WTMN was huge obviously it took Alice global (more than the ACG did) Goes To Hell was a huge follow up album and has enough classic songs on it. Trash even classes as classic if you add your formula its old enough and alice's most well known album.

there is still a lot of opinion involved to what a "classic" is, but most of us can agree what is most classic tracks are.

Glad that you have all defined classics by your own standards-I was hoping people would do that when I started thia thread. For me, I tend only to recognise something as classic after a few years-so it took me years to recognise "What do you want from me" and "Man of the Year" and "Grim Facts" are getting there-mind you after a few listens i classed "Serious" as classic so I know what people mean by instant classics. "Steven" would be another instant one. Will stop before I argue with myself-can't win that one.

Poison, as much as some cringe when they hear it, would have to defined as a classic. Was a considerable hit, has certainly endured the test of time, is instantly recognizable and still occasionally gets played in the nightclubs down here. A massive generation of fans were introduced to Alice through this song. Right song for the right time. Carefully calculated to be a hit and it was. And still gets the crowd popping when he plays it live.

I still love Poison. It was the first Alice song I heard and it remains one of my favourites. However, I don't like the way Alice changes it when he performs it live. I don't think it's been great live since the 90's.

Looking at the current tour of Poison, I dunno it just looked like to me Alice seemed bored of this song, doesn't put all into it like other songs on the set.

I liked it in the 90s, but since the Brutal Planet tour he changes the way he sings the chorus. It just doesn't sound as good to me lol.

I would say Poison and Feed My Frankenstein are 2 songs that have never sounded as good LIVE as the studio recordings imo.

Poison could be a great live track, but...it's hair metal song, and since 1997 Alice try to sing it like a garage rock track. The worst was the Dirty Diamonds tour version. Last year it was better with Orianthi's vocal.

I never heard a version of Poison, by the Man himself that is, that I didn't like. But I am of the hair metal generation and a new fan. I loved the studio version and love all the versions I have been able to find. It's not my favourite song of AC, but then again, there are so freaking many great tunes.

I think there are a lot of instant classics on W2MN. I'll Bite Your Face Off will probably become a live essential and Something To Remember Me By has just as much classic potential as Only Women Bleed. It's just a shame that we haven't got to see that song live.

"I'll Bite Your Face Off“ is a great song, about the only thing I don't love about is it's title.

I've always enjoyed "Poison" live. Never understood the criticism it gets.

For me, the chorus hasn't sounded right since the 90's. It's like he changed the tune or something. Maybe it's just my imagination though.
Like Pitta said, it has started sounding better in the last few months.

The worse live song on the current tour would be Dirty Diamonds for me . This time around it doesnt work like previous sets, Not a fan of how the song suddenly ends and goes into a drum solo, Orianthi's backing vocals dont do much for me eithor.

Yeah, I've always loved DD live but it was the weakest track when I saw him last year in Bournemouth.
