Sadly, you can simply see the ravages of alcohol over time....

Some of those photos....especially from 1979, are bloody horrific.

Yeah, he looks so incredibly ill.........

1971 pics look good though. Even though he is clearly wasted in the last few.

Wish I had a time machine....1971 would be my first stop. :alice:

Some really great photos here, but is sad to see the ones where he looks so ragged due to alcohol-glad he kicked that habit!
Also surprised to see him wearing a BULLS--T t-shirt and in the 1975 set, I had the poster he is holding up. I had an uncle who HATED Alice and dubbed the poster "sickening"
Thanks, Paul, for sharing these.

Tuneylune, why are you surprised to see Alice wear a BS Tshirt ?
I had that poster too :)

Some great pics there from the good ol' days.

GR8 to see..ta for posting..some I hadn't seen before especially from 1980...I thought he was in bad shape when I watched him on Special F tour circa 82 Glasgow but in 79/80 he looks in worse shape to me-makes Iggy look overfed at times..

Thanks for the pictures. I will try to save them for my collection of Alice's pictures. Every pictures of Alice is good to me, that he look good or bad. I'm glad that he came out of this Hell that is alcoolism, so he can still be with us today, better than ever.

Mostly because he never seemed to be big on profanity in interviews and especially in public where it might give authorities more of a reason to hassle him.

>Mostly because he never seemed to be big on profanity in interviews

It was a bit different in the seventies - he wasn't really a prude in relation to words like that.

>that and especially in public where it might give authorities more of a reason to hassle him

he also appeared on television holding a bag with that word on it.
It was the seventies - it was part of the shocking and rebellious image and besides, what made him so classy was that he didn't need to rely on that kind of thing.

Absolutely, Andy! He would have the occasional word here or there, but no constantly, which does show class. Remember reading Ozzy or Slipknot articles/interviews and got sick of one word in particular being used ALL THE TIME! I'm certainly no prude, but use it to make a valid point and then move on.

You've lost me there; where is he holding a poster up?

I think the photo where he is wearing a 'School Sucks' t-shirt (see link), and is being shown a picture of what he used to look like, is shocking!! He looks worse than Freddie Mercury just prior to dying of AIDS!! What makes it more disturbing is the fact that Alice seems to be denying acknowledgment of who the photo is of!!!

Re the BS shirt: I believe that Alice doesn't swear anymore at all, but wasn't completely adverse to it in the 70s - so it doesn't shock me too much - but I know what you mean, it's NOT something one associates with Alice in general. In fact, I would go as far to say that, for a rebellious rocker, his swearing is conspicious by its absence.

You can see the poster in the second row of the 1975 set, dead center. He is wearing the red leotards and the poster has him holding his face, eyes closed and the snake is draped over him. I ordered it from a magazine for $7.98 (My Uncle who dubbed the poster "sickening" replied he wouldn't "...pay that much for a nude photo of Angie Dickinson!") and it was pretty big, a 42x58 size. Found a record store which also had posters and I got the 42x58's of KISS (one from around DESTROYER and the other ALIVE 2) and Led Zeppelin, as well as a couple of smaller Alice posters, sadly gone now, but still remember them and at least have some pictures in a photo album (One was NIGHTMARE with the leotards in front of the bed and the other has him with a cane in front of Neal who has both sticks hitting the cymbals).
As far as swearing, a little can go a long way and as I've gotten older, it's tiresome to hear swearing all the time, especially in films, one reason I find Quentin Tarantino's films all but unwatchable, RESERVOIR DOGS notwithstanding, even if it's a rip off (or "homage" as QT likes to say) to a Stanley Kubrick film from 1956 THE KILLING (Excellent film by the way and unlike a lot of Kubrick films, it actually moves).

Ahh, that one! I've still got mine! It's the biggest poster I think I have ever seen! I had this up in my bedroom when I was a child and my Auntie wondered how I could sleep with that on the wall!!!

Re swearing: I can take it or leave it, it doesn't offend me. All I would say is that it loses its impact when used gratuitously - like Billy Conolly (who? I hear you say) for example.

Damn lucky people of that area in the 70s as far as I am concerned!!

Actually, I think I am correct in saying that this was where the live footage was filmed for the the 'Good to see you again' film. I'm sure someone will tell me if this is not the case.....
