Silly question

I have this "existential" question that's been coming back every now and then. And I can't really figure it out from photos.

I always figured that the dollar bills were simply "Impaled" on the sword through the middle, but several of them have many holes. I can't help but wondering why? Are some notes folded? Most notably the one I got yesterday has four holes all over and it's not the first I've seen.

Anyone?

If I had to guess those are ones that fell on the stage and were re stabbed. As seen in some of the videos

I figures it might be "reusing" the ones that never got off the stage (on a different night I mean). But yesterday's note clearly fell off and the guy went to pick one up for me.

Ah well, it's just one of these little things that come to mind once in a while, since I fold them to put them in my pocket it's harder to reconstruct things

Your first guess was correct. There usually are a few folded ones.
