A Runaway Trains

Dennis posted on his facebook page:

It's great to see that "A Runaway Train" is getting radio play. Thanks Alice, Michael, Neal, Bob, Steve, Shep, Vince Gill & DDP.

I asked about how it was going, and he said this:

Alice told me that it was the single and my royalties reflect that it's doing nearly as well as "Elected" which is going pretty strong right now.

So, I guess this is kind of good news, great to see a new song playing almost as much as a total classic like Elected.

There's one Radio Station here in São Paulo that plays some Cooper songs. The last one i heard was School's Out, last week. But no other station play rock music.

It was released late last year to radio only, as far as I know.

I asked Dennis about it, and the answer is the one he says it's going nearly as well as Elected.

Dennis based his opinion about airplay on "Train" and "Elected" by referring to his royalties and talking to Alice.

Exactly! And he is comparing how they are both going today, not with 1973, when Elected was a worldwide hit played all day long.

,,exactly and of course Elected is probably generating more than normal for an old song with a forthcoming election in US..I am sure Dennis will be happy with the well earned royalties

I also hope that Dennis gets his well earned royalties but I know for sure that Elected nowadays gets more airplay and so more royalties than Runaway train. Elected can be heard on all the radiostations with the so called Classic/oldies . At least here in Holland.
And I personali never heard Runaway train on any radiostation at all.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've never heard Runaway train played anywhere, maybe this is an American thing, although I did hear 'No More Mr Nice guy' played today...God that's a great single.

"Hello My Fellow SICKTHINGS"

I have just visited this great thread and think that I might be able to assist you in providing some content you are questioning. I have created 12 album covers for Alice starting with "School's Out" up through "Old School" The Box set. I also retain all the originals (30 pieces in total)from those packages, so drop me a line at: OriginalAlbumCoverArt.Com

Thank you - Ernie Cefalu

I hate to be a Doubting Thomas but I see absolutely no evidence that A Runaway Train is getting airplay beyond possibly a couple spins here and there. To compare it to Elected, a Top 40 hit, is wishful thinking. I'd like to be wrong: Can someone provide a radio playlist or rankings of rock songs from Billboard or something that mentions A Runaway Train?

Perhaps you can go to Dennis Dunaway's facebook page and ask him? Maybe he can double check his royalty listings.

BTW....I don't think anyone is "comparing" it to Elected. AND, I have no idea (and probably no one else does) as to the time frame we are talking about. Weeks? Months? One day? Go to the Dunaway Family page and ask. And let us know.
