Alice Cooper - Golf Monster

Post by Stuart » Wed Mar 21, 2012 7:33 am

Hi, I'm thinking of getting the Golf Monster book but have read mixed reviews of it. Is there anything new which comes to light in the book or was it a missed opportunity? Just wondering for some opinions. Thanks

Basically half is about golf tricks and tips that Alice lives by when hes out on the golf course and the other half is a biography. I think you would find it to be an interesting read even though parts of it may be repetitive of other biography books of his. It has a cool photo section of his years in the biz and with other celebs. I highly recommend it.

I personally felt it was a lost opportunity. I wanted to know a lot more about the creation of the music, how certain songs came about, the inspirations around them, what the recording sessions were like, what certain musicians contributed, but there was very little of that kind of thing in the book and lots of the same anecdotes we've heard in so many interviews. There is more information in the welcome 2 my nightmare magazine. However, having said that there is a good insight into Alice's alcoholism and it is certainly worth buying the book i enjoyed the insight to his family background and there are a lot of interesting stories in the Golf section, i liked when he played flushing meadows. Anyway for a few bucks it's certainly worth getting.

nobody can say with the title "golf monster" that he pulled any punches once you opened the book. Even if you don't golf,he makes the golf heavy sections interesting-I would give it 9 out of 10 stars!

Well worth a read. I've got the Ebook, Hardcover and the Audiobook. I think it was good and there where a few new things. Could have been a lot more though. Good for a weekend read.

I'd also recomend Dick Wagners book. Not Only Women Bleed has a got section On his time with Alice and a different point of veiw to some of the stories in Golf Monster.

An enjoyable read, nothing really that enlightening but nice to hear him talking about stuff other than chickens for once.

well its a good long section. The book doesn't really have chapters so much. As its more a collection of stories told somewhat in order. Quite good really. Liked it a bit better then Golf Monster. Still find time to read Golf Monster once every 3 months or so. As its a good read but a bit short.

I'd go with DadaScot. It's entertaining but not really definitive.

>but there was very little of that kind of thing in the book

It wasn't the intention that there should be.

>There is more information in the welcome 2 my nightmare magazine.

That was intentional.
