Strange case DVD
Sorry I have trouble posting links from my I phone as I'm stoopid, but if you check out guitarworld.com they are listing a may 22nd release date for the strange case with audio commentary by Alice. Hope this is legit.

'The Strange Case of Alice Cooper' Coming to DVD May 22
Posted 03/15/2012 at 7:57pm | by Damian Fanelli
Alice Cooper’s macabre masterpiece, The Strange Case of Alice Cooper, will be released on DVD for the first time on May 22 via Shout! Factory.
The video has been unavailable (officially, anyway) for more than 30 years.
Recorded live on April 9, 1979, in San Diego during a stop on the Madhouse Rock Tour, Strange Case was inspired by Cooper’s stay in a New York sanitarium and the people he met there. Vincent Price introduces the proceedings as ghoulish doctors and transvestite nurses cross paths with dancing bottles of alcohol. All the while, Cooper performs songs from his From The Inside album and a healthy serving of his other hits.
The DVD also features an audio commentary by Cooper.
The Strange Case of Alice Cooper Setlist:
From The Inside
Serious
Nurse Rozetta
The Quiet Room
I Never Cry
Devil’s Food
Welcome To My Nightmare
Billion Dollar Babies
Only Women Bleed
No More Mr. Nice Guy
I’m Eighteen
The Black Widow
Wish I Was Born In Beverly Hills
Ballad Of Dwight Fry
Go To Hell
How You Gonna See Me Now
Inmates (We’re All Crazy)
School’s Out

Cool cover. Would be great if it were on Blu-ray too.

Re: Strange case DVD
It would have been cool if somehow they could have included Dead Babies and All Strapped Up. However, That footage is long gone probably. Still exciting though
Re: Strange case DVD
Great news!! This is, in my opinion, classic Alice before he 'sold out' and ran out of ideas from the mid-eighties onwards.
Re: Strange case DVD
My friend had this on betamax when it first came out in the early eighties, someone managed to copy it to VHS but it has long disapeared, will be great to catch up again.
Re: Strange case DVD
Shout! Factory also released "Good To See You Again" several years ago which had involvement from the Alice Cooper camp, does this release also have involvement from those around Alice?

Re: Strange case DVD
Since it includes commentary from Alice, I'd say that it does...

Re: Strange case DVD
Yes!!! I'll third the motion for a Blu-Ray version, but will gladly settle for a solid DVD copy!

That'll teach me for not bothering to read past the first paragraph a press release.SickThings wrote:Since it includes commentary from Alice, I'd say that it does...

Re: Strange case DVD
I doubt the quality of the original film warrants a Blu-ray release....

Re: Strange case DVD
If you mean visual quality, they can *probably* get away with it if they are actually rescanning the original film stock in HD ALA Star Trek: The Next Generation's remastering project for BluRay. But it depends on what they have to work with too.
We'll know in due time if this is going to be a project like "Good To See You Again" or on the flipside if it will be like "The Nightmare Returns."

Re: Strange case DVD
...Looking forward to getting hold of an "Official" DVD copy of this at last!!
I bought it in 1979/1980 on VHS, at a "Stoopid" price from an Import record shop, and played it almost on a continuous Loop!! I still have the original vhs tape, but haven't played it for years, for fear that it will tangle or snag.
I don't think it's one of Alices best EVER shows/performances, but it was still great to get to see it, and, over the years, the "Vocal" inflections ( and mistakes!!) have wormed their way into my heart...

Re: Strange case DVD
Yeah, it all depends on how far back they go. The still-frame effects look like video effects, so is there film to go back to? Will they be able to? Will they bother if they can? Or will they just take the path of least resistance and put the VHS on DVD? Time will tell....

Well, whatever we get, I'm sure someone will complain about it.

Re: Strange case DVD
No doubt! I won't be one of them. This show was recorded just a month after my first Alice show in Louisville, and I've always enjoyed watching it.

The quality on "Prime Cuts" looked decent compared to the actual copy I have, so hopefully we'll have a trailer to come soon so we can get a glimpse.
