About 10 years ago I scoured the internet for a copy of this and found a video store liquidating their stock. They had a good quality copy of it which I immediately transferred to DVD.

Although my copy is very good, I'm looking forward to this.

Very glad that this is finally hitting DVD. I've seen the VHS, but Alice's commentary should be entertaining (the one on 'Good To See You Again) was great. It's a shame that one wasn't included on the 'Nightmare Returns' DVD, since that's generally an overlooked period of his career and one I'm always interested to hear more about.

I was involved in the production of the "Good To See You Again" dvd and worked directly with the people at Shout Factory at the request of Brian Nelson (kind of standing in for him since he was on the road with Alice).

When I saw the source material they (Shout Factory) had to work with and what they achieved with the end result, I was amazed. They work miracles restoring old programs and such. I am confident they will do as good a job with "The Strange Case Of Alice Cooper" as well.

Unless I'm mistaken, the version of 'go to hell' on this disc ends with a rare view of the electric chair in action

That DVD was released without any involvement from the Alice camp if I recall, I think Brian described it to me as "unauthorized" or something along that lines. Thus why I'm Eighteen is titled "Little Flower at Ulysses," for instance. Basically just a basic release by Universal in the same vein as some of the endless and useless compilations that exist to squeeze a few dollars out.

Well, the folks at Shout! Factory have done it again! The Strange Case of...DVD looks and sounds fantastic!!!!

Watched it at work yesterday and was amazed at how clear the picture and sound quality was after so many years of seeing it as a 5th generation bootleg VHS!!! They did an great job transferring it from what the box says "best available sources".

Looking forward to giving it another viewing today with Alice's commentary on!

Its says its region free NTSC so if your player can convert you might be OK. You'd have to figure out who has the EU rights for a PAL version

Got my copy yesterday and since I am off today, will give it a look. Had a copy of a copy on tape, but still enjoyed it. I will check out the commentary tomorrow as I enjoyed the ones off GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN, ALICE COOPER and WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE. Agree with EL Nombre that it's too bad there is no commentary on THE NIGHTMARE RETURNS as well as ALICE COOPER TRASHES THE WORLD, but I'm glad they are on DVD at least.

Ditto! :)   :alice: :alice: :alice: -had forgotten how good this show was, although Alice looks really skinny and somewhat bedraggled. Had forgotten he was doing the "Black Widow" instrumental back then . Band is great on it too. Commentary was good as well, but it seemed like he needed to warm up as he won't shut up towards the end! :) Also, Sheryl and Rosa are GORGEOUS!

It's too bad, that the DVD is made Region 1 and not Region all. My DVD-player can't play Region 1-DVD's :(
But other people told me that they can play it on their computer.

Yeah if its region locked you can use programs like DVD43 to make your PC region free.

One would have thought with his European fan base a PAL version would be coming along soon, probably closer to the European dates later this year.

I am not sure my DVD likes US format and will be somewhat indignant if a European standard is not available shortly.

It's possible that Shout Factory doesn't have the rights to do a European release. It's also possible that they don't do European releases (I haven't looked). It's also possible that some other company will do a European release. It's also possible that there will be no European release.

Time will tell.

Amazon often incorrectly list region free DVDs as Region 1. In fact I am yet to see one correctly listed as region free.
