Not particularly interested in Maiden either, but I will be going if they come to the UK. Alice on stage anywhere is a big treat for me....

Re: "A Big Announcement to Come in a Few Weeks"
such unnecessary negativity on this thread
Re: "A Big Announcement to Come in a Few Weeks"
1. The board hasn`t existed for "16-17 years"scotty wrote:well for 16-17 years on this board it sure was.Devon wrote:
"are they in the hall of fame?"
I wouldn't exactly use that as a measure of anything.
2. Many, maybe the majority, on these forums have always seen the hall of fame as a corporate business excercise which has nothing to do with the quality or success of an artist and more to do with who is on the selection board and whether their companies artists have a new record coming out. The fact it took them so long to recognise Alice Cooper (and others still not inducted) has made them a laughing stock.
Yes, it is good when a band is finally selected so that the voting panel is actually allowed to vote for them (AC was inducted the first year the voters could actually vote for them), but the fact that it took so long for them to get on the ballot is the problem.

I totally agree with that. Mind if I "steal" that from you?Parish wrote: "Life is a series of disappointments interrupted by brief periods of false hope"

It works though because when you expect zip and then actually get something it makes it a fab day...

>I think we know we may being referenced here as *part* of that movement.
So what, though? I hate to shatter your illusions but there are less Alice Cooper fans on this board than there are who are not on this board.
>Then again,I'm talking with cooper fans that are now trying to convince me that iron maiden is bigger than alice cooper, which to me is like saying that oasis is bigger than the beatles.
Usually, your posts make a lot of sense but you’re really not thinking clearly on this issue. You are getting VERY confused. None of the above proves that Iron Maiden do not sell more concert tickets, albums and merchandise than Alice Cooper does. In fact, as has been pointed out, the opposite is true.
>and just for those promoters, here's some numbers my man
Your examples are are flawed as they do not show total sales. Do let us have those figures as well. Also, you’re making me defend a band I actually loathe but the difference is I try not to let the facts get blurred by my emotions and prejudices. Again, if you think Iron Maiden is not more commercially successful than Alice is, then you are deluded, because ultimately and for better or worse, that’s pretty much all a promoter will be concerned with, not “influence” or “originality”.

Re: "A Big Announcement to Come in a Few Weeks"
Maybe Alice does this tour to get more money for a new bigger show afterwards. But that's my hope.
I don't like duo-shows and certain not as Alice is first on but I have to agree that he will attract a lot more people with this tour.
Alice is a favorite of the Maidengroup so they will treat him with respect and give him a good part of the show. I consider this a two groupshow and not the traditionel supportgroup / headliner.
Let's see what the future brings.

I suppose this Iron Maiden thing can be spun in a lot of ways. Good PR work can bring out rose colored glasses for just about anything.

Rose Colored Glasses Tour!
Sure to be a "spectacle"
Re: "A Big Announcement to Come in a Few Weeks"
I am confused....(again? always?)
On the AC web site, they show a large poster of Iron Maiden's "North American Tour" that includes the words "With Special Guest - Alice Cooper" (in fairly large letters). Yet on the Iron Maiden website, the same poster appears...sans the Alice Cooper announcement.
Where is the respect? Is Iron Maiden not using Alice's presence as a selling tool? Or do they want their fans to be surprised?????

Perhaps they can't see the Four Ed's for the trees?
Re: "A Big Announcement to Come in a Few Weeks"
There is no doubt in my mind, that Maiden is the best band for touring with Alice and his band.
Today, the pond... Tomorrow, the woooorld!
Re: "A Big Announcement to Come in a Few Weeks"
If it came to uk, I would go for the novelty(Alice supporting and Iron Maiden playing)..many AC gigs I have been at have been popultaed by Iron Maiden fans..have talked to quite a few..so there is a crossover/respect..Alice has got older..his past record may seem bigger but there are more fans now for Iron Maiden..Maiden benefited from AC existing like Stones following Chuck Berry..AC will I am sure benefit from tour exposure wise and financially..
You are an individual, just like everybody else.

Re: "A Big Announcement to Come in a Few Weeks"
This actually isn't a let down for me because when I read "BIG Announcement to come..." I had zero expectations. I find it's alot easier that way. I think this is a bigger deal to Alice and the band rather than the fans.
It gives AC another chance to play in front of bigger crowds than he has been but AC fans will likely get an hour's worth of concert standards, so nothing to get jazzed about. I've seen Maiden many times (probably more than Alice) so I'll just wait until the day of the show, and if I'm not working I might be tempted to go, but this is not a must see in my books.
Oh and to those who think AC is a bigger act than IM

It has less to do with "PR" than it has to do with the cold, commercial reality.

Much like touring with The Scorpions, Deep Purple or Rob Zombie. Although in this case Maiden's a bigger draw than Scorps/DP/RZA_MichaelUK wrote:>I consider this a two groupshow and not the traditionel supportgroup / headliner.
