'A Runaway Train' as a new single ?

Post by Awakening » Mon Nov 21, 2011 3:37 pm

Image

Hi over there.

I found this picture on the Ultimate Classic Rock website.
It was posted in an article dedicated to the song.

It would be surprising to get 'Runaway Train' in single. No chorus, for a single ? ... Could be enjoyable if it's choose as a kind of joke against the industry.

Anyway, there is still no official information about it.
This is just this picture wich makes me curious.

That's some really nice artwork.

I don't see how a chorus really matters... a good song is a good song. Although, I admit, it wouldn't be my choice for a single.

I don't know, if there is one thing to remember from a radio single to assure sells, it's the chorus... I think.

Anyway, I love this song so I havn't anything against the idea to pick it as a single.

New single ?? I have yet to hear anything from the new release on any radio station. Not even on XM satilite. There was so much hype before the release and then poof once it was released.

That's a bad move if true. Not a very good track at all, IMO.

fortunately you are in the minority, though i'm sure the writers Dennis Dunaway, Alice & Bob Ezrin wont lose any sleep about your 'considered' opinion let alone ACG legends Neal Smith & MB who also played on it.
Not forgetting country guitar legend Vince Gill who played the blinding solo on this outstanding song.

Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one!

I think it's a great move, as it's a super-unique track for Alice. In my humble asshole, it's one of the three best tracks on the album.

Halo of Flies made it to the Dutch top 10 without a chorus.
And Alice is not your average rock star !
And so are his singles.....

Pretty pointless releasing anything else from the albums as the fans have been fleeced enough with all the different versions.

I like the feel of Dennis's original song though the lyrics were awful. I like the Alice written lyrics better but the song doesn't have the same feel.

Oh, yep I had forgotten than Halo was choose as single.
I didn't know that he had such a success.

But, be sure, I didn't say that a song without chorus isn't good or smart. I just talk about some hits and sells.

a hit single in Holland who like their prog rock and this was about as prog as Alice Cooper got.

Helped by the likes of Radio Veronica, Radio Northsea and Radio Caroline who played it a lot and had a massive listenership in the 1970's before the Dutch Marine Offences act tried to close down all these 'pirate' stations in 1974, just as the British government had done before in 1967.

Caroline got round the UK law by moving its operation to Holland and then around the Dutch law by moving its operation to Spain.

Veronica became a legal station later as it was so popular with the Dutch.

RNI (Radio Northsea) sold its ship to Gaddafi who used it for islamist propaganda before it was blown up.

The co owner of RNI Edwin Bollier a swiss timer expert was a suspect in the Lockerbie Bombing.

Can't figure out why "Face off" wasn't a hit (or at least given airplay). Great riff, playing, lyrics, & video. The music industry is so far gone, it's pathetic.

The best song by far on the album but the title is just not radio friendly.

I guess like everything else, the radio generally is more politically correct than ever..the title surprised me a bit (reminded me of the Goodies episode that mentioned a fictitious Alice record in about 1974)..I thought the title would be more subtle..but the songs good in a stones recycled way..but then I like the Stones..reckon the album would have benefited from the video treatment given to ACAS..or an animation..we've discussed this elsewhere and that would take money..if we were going for a long single I would go for I am made of you with a lot of PR as to what Alice might mean..even if he doesnt end up telling us!

as Si pointed out when the Goodies episode was brought up before you can see a poster of Alice in the record execs office.

Alice Cooper was at number 30 with Rotting Fish

Cooper classic!
