The 3 you mention are not released yet.
I find the sound very good!! Much better than my old Japanese ones. On the Steve Hoffman forum there is a review.

I now got them and I must say SPLENDID job!!!
My only disappointment is that it's not a drawerbox.

I have only heard Killer and it is not good. Way too loud. It sounds muddy and a lot of the detail is lost. Hoffman's version blows it away.
Re: Japan mini lps coming at last
That's disapointing, I really don't understand why they must crank the volume up on everything now. It destroys the music
Re: Japan mini lps coming at last
Must disagree with you here. I find the sound quality of killer fantastic. I would say way better than he Hoffman versions. Yes they are loud but I don't think on this occasion the sound quality has been compromised at all. Can't wait to get the next six.pitkin88 wrote:I have only heard Killer and it is not good. If you crank the volume even a little it really distorts. Someone posted the wave form over at SHTV and said this can't be good. I prefer to listen with my ears rather than judge by a graph but in this case they were spot on.

That's interesting, i might have to take a listen. I've heard some pretty shocking 're-masters' recently due to the volume race that everyone seems to be on.pitkin88 wrote:If you crank the volume even a little it really distorts. Re: Japan mini lps coming at last
I can listen to them at full blast through my headphones and I can't hear any distortion. I honestly think these are the best versions of these albums I have ever heard and I would highly reccomend them to everyone.

Re: Japan mini lps coming at last
i'd be interested to hear these alongside the vinyl versions on a proper separates system with German speakers, it's usually the best indicator for me on the quality of the mastering. Is there any info available on how these were remastered and from what source?
Re: Japan mini lps coming at last
You can tell the difference between the two with a half decent pair of headphones. I play most of my music in the car and the loudness is easilly noticeable. I'll post a link to the wave form at SHTV if you'd like.

I based my opinion on listening not on the graph. Compressed and clipped music does not sound great. Killer sounds worse than the original Warner CD. Any word on who did the mastering and if the original master tapes were used?
Re: Japan mini lps coming at last
Think we will just have to disagree on this one dude. No I have not heard any details about the mastering.

Well I made order today for the GTH and L&W that are supposed to be released 1-18-12 ..Let you all know how they sound when they come in. Will be interesting to hear as these two especially L&W could use a remastering.

Oh yeah each to his own. I'd like to know what you think about the others when you get 'em.

Re: Japan mini lps coming at last
"Be My Lover" on the Mini LP CD has a distortion at the 3 second mark. That's also on the original Warner Bros. CD but it's even more evident here.
The Audio Fidelity 24k Gold disc does not have this.

It's looking likely that this cd is the same as the Warners one. I think I still have the original Warners which I was never happy with. I'll try and dig it out and see how it is for loudness.
