"What Baby Wants" (Alternate Version)

Post by RemarkablyInsincere » Fri Sep 30, 2011 12:37 am

Does anybody know where the alternate version of "What Baby Wants" with Ke$ha singing the majority of the song comes from?

I don't remember seeing this mentioned anywhere.

Despite such it is a alt version. i would suspect Ke$ha will put it out as a Single on her next album.

Just going along with this one for a minute..even if it is released in alternate format by Ke$ha whenever, potentially it could bring in dollars and more attention to AC and welcome 2 album in long run..would be interested in hearing at myself but maybe not available as search of usual places havent turned up alternate version

The Planet Rock show *was* available to 'listen again' on the Planet Rock website. Not sure if it still is though. Not sure there was a download link as such, but there ARE ways to download webcasts of course.

Does anyone here actually possess this recording?

I do, but it was recorded from streaming playback. The quality is decent, but not fantastic. Si, will I be in trouble for posting a link? Since the song is in no way commercially available?

you guys seriously are a little extreme...
i think a fan community should be a place for sharing rare recordings too... what other way is there to get some new stuff from alice?

why do you hold back the things you have?
in this case it was also offically streamed!
i don't see how this would effect sales or be seriously negative for alice... as long its not buyable stuff

@ TeresofBlood
please post it on youtube, would be cool :)

Via pm might be the best way as this site is read by a lot of Alice's camp. I don't have it nor am I interested in hearing it.

I actually agree with this to a point BUT...
JasonC wrote: what other way is there to get some new stuff from alice?

Maybe the same way everyone else gets them. It's not very hard to find such stuff nowadays.
JasonC wrote: why do you hold back the things you have?
You'd need to be a little more specific. What have "we" been holding back?
JasonC wrote: in this case it was also offically streamed!
It was actually played by mistake on a radio show which netcasts. They have/had a 'listen again' feature. Why did you not use it, and download/record it? That was when it was 'officially' available. If the stream is now gone then it isn`t officially available any more. Why wait for someone else to do something you could have done yourself?
JasonC wrote: i don't see how this would effect sales or be seriously negative for alice... as long its not buyable stuff
And that`s part of the point. What if they offically release it as a single in a couple of weeks time? Or it's on Kesha's album, or some other format. If everyone already has it why bother releasing it?

Another example would be the live recording in the recent box set. It was a bootleg up until the point it was officially released, and some people here complained that the box set included a lot of material 'everyone' already had. They shouldn`t have already had it as it had never been released, if you see what I mean.

The second point, and I know it's a minor one but some people still don`t get it. It is ILLEGAL.
You might not care. There's probably no reason why you should BUT I would guess Universal's lawyers wouldn`t see it the same if they were asked to SUE ME, as I own this site.

*I* would care about that! You probably wouldn`t, but I wouldn`t be too please about being sued because some stranger tried to help out by posting illigal material on my site.

The bottom line is: I would LOVE to allow bootleg (ie not officially released) trading and the like here, but legally it just isn`t possible, especially on a site that is as visible to the record companies, publishers, management etc as this one is. The official companies have always been more then helpful to me (for which I'm extremely grateful), helping me keep this site going for YOU. I doubt that would continue if people here were posting links to download their product (or in this case potential product).

Try and see the other side of it. You could also actually LOOK to see what is already out there on the internet before complaining that one specific site doesn`t allow illegal material to be posted.

I think trading material is good and Bad at the same time. If you had all rare materials on such an easy way like posting it on a well known and probably most viewed site like this one is (I personally think this is the best source of Alice information on the web), nothing would be rare anymore. It is kind of easy to find some stuff nowadays, but indexing it on a Fan site would put away all of the fun of collecting.
I missed the song also, but don't think Si is, by any chance, wrong with his decision. This site is the best, try to think if you wouldn't ruin it by allowing people to share rare stuff illegally.
These good little shocks must be working I’m so happy now

i read about it after the stream was gone, i just meant the whole point...

i understand your point of view and i'm on your side, don't want that this site getting in troubles by any means! thanks for the site!

but the "kinda extreme" anti-post attitude is a little sad for people like me, looking for things that can't be found on other sites

waiting decades for some rare stuff till it gets released (if it gets released) is not very nice :/
-take the neil young archives, i bet a lot of people desprettly wanting to hear this died till it came out haha that sounds extreme but its a fact

You'd need to be a little more specific. What have "we" been holding back?
Is there something you could make public?

Taking my chance, some mouth ago i was asking if someone has the live recordings of virgin or the glenn buxton band but it came to nothing...

I mean some super-fans, collecting everything of alice "must" have this...
and maybe the Nobody Moves Track of the constrictor Acetate

it would be very great if someone could help me getting this :bam:

i don't think that would hurt anybody, i think glenn would be pleased if his work could be listened to

thats all, don't want this site to get a trading site,
maybe there is a other way...

Thanks Si

Si is completely right because it is his site and let's face it this site is watched over by most Cooperfans AND the recordcompany / Alice camp. We get a lot of news / previews etc from them so I can understand he doesn' t want to disrupt this band.
On the other hand there are many other ways to get rare stuff. It 's better now than in the past as now we have you tube and everybody makes recordings with his phone. The real special rare things like that song from THE Constrictor acetate is very hard to get. i collect à very long time but I never heard it.
Good luck hunting as that is THE fun part of collecting.

The Virgin tape IS out there. If no one here PM'd you with an offer that is their business as it's completely up to the individual to decide if they want to trade/give something to you. There is a virgin show up on YouTube though.
Virgin is also a slightly different thing to the Kesha track. Maybe if the Buxton's okayed it to be traded it could be made available. That is up to them I would think as I don`t believe there was any record company involvement in at that stage but I don`t know for sure.

'Nobody Move' is NOT in general circulation at all.
