Who Is Bud Saylor? Is Anyone Home?
Cause it was mentioned that "Is Anyone Home" has a similar sound as the new album.
I came to check out which guys wrote that song - it was Dan Wexler and Bud Saylor...
they wrote songs on The Last Temptation too...
But, who is this Bud Saylor?
There is literally no information out there, is it a Pseudonym?

He was a musician in Phoenix, I think.

Re: Who Is Bud Saylor? Is Anyone Home?
He is, of course, better known as the subject of the popular Beach Boys song, "Sail On, Saylor."
Re: Who Is Bud Saylor? Is Anyone Home?
i assume he heard that a few times
Re: Who Is Bud Saylor? Is Anyone Home?
I believe this guy is the only person from alice's past not to be on or at least rumored to be on w2mn!!
Re: Who Is Bud Saylor? Is Anyone Home?
It is an excellent question. I have done some 'Googling' and discovered that he is sometimes referred to as BRUCE Saylor, but could not find any further information other than a Bruce Saylor composer - but I doubt it is him if you look at his work. Also, there is a 'Skip' Saylor who is a writer and producer that has worked with Alice (on Guns and Roses 'Use your Illusion' thing) - it could be him with different nicknames!?? Doubt it though. All in all, he is rather illusive!!
I tell you something though, he is a co-writer of two of my very favourite Cooper tracks; Nothing's Free and Is Anyone Home, so I would like to know who he is!

Re: Who Is Bud Saylor? Is Anyone Home?
good information, maybe we should ask those "Saylors"
It would be cool to see if there is more work from this guy
Also, something which i was always interested about,
is "Is Anyone Home" written about the time of Temptation or 1996 around the time it was recorded and are there more songs from that session...

Re: Who Is Bud Saylor? Is Anyone Home?
I have wondered this, I get the impression that "Is Anyone Home" was written during TLT sessions but maybe didn't fit that particular album, it's a good track and so I doubt it was considered 'sub-standard' or anything. I could be wrong, but that's what I suspect.is "Is Anyone Home" written about the time of Temptation or 1996 around the time it was recorded and are there more songs from that session...

>is "Is Anyone Home" written about the time of Temptation or 1996
It was written after "The Last Temptation", or at least the lyrics were. The song is about the internet which Alice had not heard of during "The Last Temptation".

Excellent point Andy! Of course! I think it may well be; music written during TLT and lyrics written (or re-written) a couple of years later. The song is about the internet which Alice had not heard of during "The Last Temptation".

What makes you think this?Gunner wrote:I think it may well be; music written during TLT and lyrics written (or re-written) a couple of years later.

....because the songwriters collaborated during TLT and the subject matter suggests a time after that. Is that not a valid thought?? I could be wrong of course, but I never said I was right, so I think my reasons for thinking this are acceptable. I am presuming nobody here knows.

Usually when people say they "think" something, it means they have some shred of evidence to back it up.Gunner wrote:....because the songwriters collaborated during TLT and the subject matter suggests a time after that. You probably should say "I imagine" or "I'm guessing" as that would more accurately convey that you really have nothing to back this up, it's just a hunch on your part.

Re: Who Is Bud Saylor? Is Anyone Home?
I just want to point out that there's an older topic discussing "Is Anyone Home?" and that there was a Renfield quote there about that it was written during a tour.

Edit: Checking it out again I realise that several of the people who discuss it here discussed it back then as well.
