I know this will bring out the Gollums but I wonder if you are right.
Everything seems to have a retro twang. The Old School set, the new shirts on the AC site (lovely), the name of the new tour, the new album being a 'follow-up'.
Could be I'm just reading too much into it all... but I likes me retro

What about the 'School's Out For Summer 1998' Tour? Dragontown was the folow up to BP.
"Eyes..." was a "back to the garage" approach...

How can you possibly make that assertion without hearing the songs in full?
Re: W2MN - Audio samples of all songs - Big Spoiler Alert
If it was really his last album, I think they would used this fact as part of the promoting, it would be a marketing point.

Sorry to be pedantic but wasn't the 'School's Out For Summer tour' 1997?Si wrote:Quote possibly.Steven Allan wrote:I know this will bring out the Gollums but I wonder if you are right.

Ah, but the 'School's Out For Summer 1998' had the '1998' bit on the end possibly making it a 're-imagining' (could be 96 - 97, depending on territory).Si wrote: Quote possibly.

Dragontown was only a year after BP... so not really a 'follow-up' in my book at lest.
Eyes kinda went too far back in some ways.
I just feel there is a retro-like emphasis on Alice in his prime at the moment. Mind, 'prime' is a touchy one as what I'd consider prime others may not

Yeah, last great album would be a better description.Si wrote:What makses you say with such certainty that this is Alice's last album? No one has suggested it will be.steven_crayn wrote:this is Alice Cooper's swansong
I guess he will tour and record till he drops but more effort and expertise has gone into this album than for a long time and I don't think we will see a better one at this stage in Alice's career and that is not a criticism or bad thing, as I think this album is going to meet with mass acclaim from Cooper fans and the music media.

your assuming I haven't heard the songs in full, the samples just confirmed what I expected and predicted his best album since the 1970syoudrivemenervous wrote:even from the samples it's the best Alice album since From The InsideHow can you possibly make that assertion without hearing the songs in full?

Re: W2MN - Audio samples of all songs - Big Spoiler Alert
Got to doing some thinking a bit and i hated the fact i listened to the samples but i shouldnt beat myself up too much about listening to them cause there is still a lot of cool stuff like riffs and etc to look forward to that the samples didnt air.
That and watching a live youtube video of Ill Bite Your Face Off when those started popping up by no means detracted me from wanting to hear this album in full... as thats the only way to enjoy it is from start to finish. Basically what im saying is in theory not wanting to listen to anything from the album was impossible as at some point i would hear something eventually, be it a commercial on tv, a radio clip, etc.
I think i worry too much at times LOL Ill still enjoy the hell out of this album when it gets in my hands, as i said before those samples probably didnt even air the good stuff.... hell that piano part in Ill Bite Your Face off was beyond cool and that wasnt aired in the sample.

Re: W2MN - Audio samples of all songs - Big Spoiler Alert
Fair point, but if the album is a smashing success, the desire and commitment from both Alice and Bob will be there to keep the momentum going, obviously in the form of the tour, but possibly in the form of the next album. I'm not getting my hopes up, but simply suggesting not to rule it out.steven_crayn wrote:Yeah, last great album would be a better description.Si wrote:What makses you say with such certainty that this is Alice's last album? Re: W2MN - Audio samples of all songs - Big Spoiler Alert
Alice's voice on When Hell comes Home sounds a bit like Marc Bolan round the edges IMO(and the track before maybe a hint of Lennon)..Alice=great voice, great mimic..pretty much great.
You are an individual, just like everybody else.
Re: W2MN - Audio samples of all songs - Big Spoiler Alert
I know what you mean, it has MANY 'flavours' of Alice.sounds quite a bit like Eyes of Alice.
It's difficult to tell from samples, but when, with many of them, I was getting into them greatly before they abruptly ended - this is a good sign for me.
Now, where is that clown that was telling me that I was setting myself up for a disappointment??

I'm VERY excited by the samples; sounds like a return to MELODY at last.
Can't wait for the release now!
