Alices guitar skills nowadays?
I recall Alice apparently played rhythm guitar on tonight show 1997 and I have seen one show on you tube from that year where he had a guitar slung in front of him (looked a bit like Paul Stanley- no he isn't copying him! lol)..I wondered whether Alice has developed his guita skill as of 2011 and could anyone post a link to that 1997r show with him playing on eighteen I think (I promise I have searched and failed on youtube!)

Yeah he played guitar on Eighteen at one of the Astoria gigs i was at. Probably the easiest song to play with only about 4 chords (Em, C, D and A).
I have no idea if he still plays or whether its to a high level.

He looks pretty amazing in this video.
Re: Alices guitar skills nowadays?
That was brilliant thanks for posting that. I was at the Astoria gig where Alice played guitar, I remember being amazed because I had never seen that before, He also came on at the end of that gig dressed in a gold lame jacket and sang jailhouse rock (I'm sure that was the one). Great fun. Andy I know I have mentioned that before on a seperate thread but please don't send me to the naughty stair.

He's really not especially proficient on that instrument.

I'm sorry but Alice on the guitar just doesn't work for me.

He's best when he's not tethered to an instrument.

Not to bring you down or something, I can understand you being enthousiastic about the idea, but...homerx wrote:I would love to see Alice guest as lead or backup Guitar on another album.
Alice his specialty isn't playing guitar, so him as guitarplayer wouldn't add anything to that album...
Of course, it could be a nice easter egg or something, but other than that... I don't think so.

5 chords actually but A isn't one of them it's an Am.While Heaven Wept wrote:Yeah he played guitar on Eighteen at one of the Astoria gigs i was at. Probably the easiest song to play with only about 4 chords (Em, C, D and A).
Em C D as you correctly said with Am and Bm the other two.
There is confusion sometimes as power chords can be used often omitting the 3rd creating an ambiguity to the harmonic nature of the chord being major or minor.
Further confusion is created by the harmonic series so you could hear a major 3rd in a two note A5 chord, but the underlying harmony on 18 if playing A5 & B5 are of minor chords.
An accurate transcription of the song appeared in Guitarist magazine issue 221 March 2002.
Lead guitar on Social Debris. Album on iTunes, Amazon & Spotify, title track featured on TV
