Ta/thanks..good to see the snake clip..re first part..what happened re band stopping Steven...was the band playing along to a backing track and it failed or what (alice seemed to be doing a live vocal)..at the time I used to believe OGWT was all live stuff but have been put right on that previously

ta(=thanks) for reply Andy..didnt notice lack of horn track..I really like seeing how chilled Alice was when doing things naturally..i.e. when music stops or when talking to snake..its either a good act or hes capable of being a very relaxed cat(I think the latter)

I always knew it was Backing Track + Live vocal. Plus, even though Glen convincingly mimicks playing Derringer's solo, the solo itself is a different style from Glen's solos. (much faster, for instance, than a solo you would hear from Glen.)

but the extra guitar fills on the version that went out on OGWT just before Derringer's solo that weren't on the studio recording of Under My Wheels on Killer were Glen Buxton's.

similar thing happened on School's Out on Top Of The Pops where Alice did a live vocal while the band mimed to the backing track, not that they couldn't play it just the way things sometimes happened. A lot of singers mimed on TOTP and it just shows you how great Alice's voice was then and even though naturally he isn't going to sound the same nearly 40 years later just listen to that live vocal it is awesome, the greatest performance that show ever saw and shame on them for not featuring it on the TOTP retro doc the BBC did a few years back, glaring omission!

It may have been a Musicians' Union requirement.

interestingly the MU agreed with TOTP to ban miming on the show but after some performances that sounded not up to scratch a compromise was reached that providing those who played on the record were present a backing track could be used.
