Hall of Fame Induction Press (Videos, Pics, etc.)

Post by WickedYoungMan » Tue Mar 15, 2011 5:54 am

I'm creating a thread of its own to talk about the Hall of Fame induction with press including any articles, vids, pics. Basically the after-induction thread. Please post it all here to discuss.

Official Alice Cooper YouTube has a tease of "I'm Eighteen."

Here are some photos being posted from the Alice Cooper Facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=8 ... 4133325400 Neal & Alice apparently got a case of jaundice before the show.

I don't know about the rest of the guys, but apparently Cindy Dunaway created Dennis' costume for the evening per Facebook.

Excellent stuff. I started the same thread myself a couple of hours ago over on Metal Sludge :)

I admit I kinda flipped out a tad when I saw the RNRHOF pix earlier tonight. It's just so damn COOL that they've finally been given their long-overdue and well-deserved recognition.

Can't wait to see the show and see how it all went down.

Long live Alice Cooper

All looking real smart and ready - been pretty great following the stream of rehearsal / performance footage and pictures thru the AC fanpage these past few days.

Here's 2 recent articles I found by a simple Twitter search:

Alice Cooper showing the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame how it should be done.

Is anyone now seriously suggesting they should have done a John Lydon and tell them where to shove it?

Alice Cooper is class and Gunner you can't rain on the parade of Bruce, Buxton, Cooper, Dunaway & Smith

Great job from Steve Hunter and fantastic for Shep Gordon and Bob Ezrin who contributed so much to make the band what it was.

"In ushering in rock bad guy Cooper, Rob Zombie said, "They were more than a band. They were more like a murderous band of drag queens - in a good way."
But Cooper contradicted his snarling image in his performance last night by bringing out a choir of kids from Ronald McDonald House to sing the chorus of "School's Out." Then again, he did have them sport horror makeup with blackened eyes."

"Alice Cooper is the stage name for singer Vincent Furnier and his band, known for 1970s era hard rock songs "Eighteen," "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "School's Out." Their concerts were steeped in horror movie theatrics, and singer Rob Zombie said Monday they had invented the rock show.

The Phoenix-based Cooper wore a blood-splattered shirt and a boa constrictor to the induction. He said, "We've always been a hard-rock band. We just wanted to decorate it a little differently."

"Alice Cooper is the stage name for singer Vincent Furnier and his band, known for 1970s era hard rock songs "Eighteen," "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "School's Out." Their concerts were steeped in horror movie theatrics, and Cooper wrapped a snake around his neck during his speech accepting induction. He performed a trio of the band's hits in a shirt spattered with fake blood.
"We've always been a hard-rock band," Cooper said. "We just wanted to decorate it a little differently."
Cooper said he'd like to promise the rock hall that his band wouldn't embarrass it.
"But I can't make that promise," he said. "After all, we are Alice Cooper."
He was inducted by singer Rob Zombie, who recalled how he painted a portrait of Cooper dripping in blood when he was in fourth grade and was asked to make a picture of someone he admired — drawing attention from school authorities."

"In typical fashion, as mature and respectable as the hall of fame has grown over time, singer and frontman Vincent Furnier, a.k.a. Cooper, made his acceptance speech with his neck and shoulders draped with a yellow boa — the snake, not the scarf. Then he saluted his wife on their 35th wedding anniversary."

Bob & Tom are playing sound bites from the inductions. They played Alice talking about being kicked out. Played some of Neil live (which makes me wonder if there are any bites of Alice out there.)

"Cooper and the original Alice Cooper band played "Eighteen", "Under My Wheels" and "School's Out", after which Alice gave his acceptance speech, "We've always been a hard-rock band," he said. "We just wanted to decorate it a little bit differently." He also saluted guitarist Glen Buxton, who died of complications from pneumonia in 1997, calling him "the heart and soul of the band, as black and dark as it may be."

The setlist they played last night was already set. They may possibly had been practicing that song for the Revolver awards (or Leno if they are who are playing on the show this Friday.)
