Re: American Idol???
The "chick on guitar" is Orianthi. If you've heard the song "According to You" on the radio or elsewhere, that's her--vocals and lead guitar. And if you saw any of the clips from "This Is It" or the rehearsal footage on TV after Michael Jackson died, that was her as well. She was set to be the lead guitarist for all his London shows.

Thanks. Not being a big MJ fan I wasn't aware of her at all, but she has talent. What will she be doing next?

Re: American Idol???
as i already posted to the Sickthings2 mailing list, orianthi is a well-versed guitar player. her technical abilities are far better than most who have toured with alice. i'd rather see her than kk. sorry kk.

Re: American Idol???
In these days when people think they are 'singers', even though they are not, referring to these types of programme, isn't it great that they should choose a song that is 38 yeats old and an Alice one at that?

Re: American Idol???
The lady in question is the next guitar heroine (the last one was Jennifer Batten) and got into guitar through her dads record collection and seeing Carlos Santana in her native Australia. She has opened for Steve Vai and jammed with Carlos, and was to follow in Jennifer Battens footsteps as another female guitarist to tour with Michael Jackson before his sad death. The girl has talent though her record company appear to be pushing her into a Avril Lavine with guitar solos direction which is a shame but she will be laughing all the way to the bank!

This was a case of "Gutter Cat vs Jump The Shark"...
Brutal planet indeed....the whole show was awful.
With the exception of Christina Aguilera just about everything failed. Jokes were flat, Paula instead of being bombed just bombed and for Christ's sake Brett please learn another song. Your bald the world knows it so let your straw down and take off that stupid hat & bandana.

Re: American Idol???
Hey how did Aguilera do ? what songs did she perform ?I know I'm probably in the minority around here but I think she's unbelievably talented. The sound on my computer isn't working at the moment but I did watch the video of Alice, I thought the performance looked good but but what was with the dance the guys were doing at the begining lol as for Orianthi I can't say for sure how she did since I have no volume although I'm sure she was great, I really like that girl

Re: American Idol???
A very 'cheesy' rendition of School's Out saved only by the lovely Orianthi and the appearance of the legendary Coop. They could have at least let him sing a verse and be heard!? Cooper looked well!!

Re: American Idol???
I would had thought Simon Cowell and the other panelists could have got on their feet and given a decent round of applause.
Always good to see AC on TV and no doubt the appearence will open his work up to others who may not have otherwise listened to it.

...And personally, I don't care.
Re: American Idol???
On reflection, however cheesy the program may seem at times(all subjective) from what I gather Alice will have been seen by 24million people..some of whom may not have seen him before..so good exposure..I think advertisers/the show probably concerned viewing figs down around 4m since last year(they also dropped 4m from the year before) but it still left 24m people watching AC (even if the shark has jumped on the show)..Im sure AC will benefit..

Re: American Idol???
Yes, their rendition does not necessarily impair on Cooper's work and reputation. Good exposure, he is still a 'household word/name'.but it still left 24m people watching AC (even if the shark has jumped on the show)..Im sure AC will benefit..
Re: American Idol???
Just add, those are US viewing figures put out sortly after show..will have done Alice a power of good in US and no harm when shown on repeat again and again everywhere else..the way it was set up...the kids sing..the star comes on and plays the star..which AC did to a tee..sort of fits in with an early career aim of Alice..you turn on tv and you can't escape him (mind you I'm not sure Hollywood Squares helped him in the 70s)..at least this was a music program with a big following..also looked like a legendary rock star to me, which helps (not all rock stars keep in shape, keep their hair etc-important to some)
