Chiller Theatre Convention

Post by RemarkablyInsincere » Tue Mar 02, 2010 8:27 pm

Anybody planning on making this Chiller Theatre convention?

I have to make a business trip to Jersey sometime in April and I'm trying swing it so I can make this convention while I'm there as I have a few things I'd like to get autographed from The Master.

Interested to hear about anybody else's experiences at prior Chiller conventions too.

I am going to try and go to this also. I am actually going to be visiting family on Staten Island that weekend, and Parsippany, NJ is only 30 minutes away. If anyone went last year could you let me know how much Coop charged for autographs? Thanks!

Getting a photo with him appears to be $50.

Though, that does actually say that the presale "guarantees you a picture with your favorite star." So..if you don't do the presale, I'm not totally sure.

Interesting... thanks for the info... I wasn't aware that they had a professional photographer there. I wonder if you're limited to using them or you can use your own camera? I went to the Horrorfind in 2003 and you used your own camera but they didn't have a pro.

I'd also be interested in how much is charged for autographs and how many items you're limited to.

I did some reading on their site, it seems as these photos are taken at a different time at a different location. From their FAQ:

Can I get an autograph or give the guest a gift during my photo-op?

This is for photo-ops ONLY, ALL autographs are done at the at the guests table and are the sole discretion of the guests. You can NOT have things signed during the photo or give gifts to the guests during the photo-op.

We Are! Have reservations at the hotel from Fri night thru Sunday. Not sure if you have been to Chiller before but it is a "nightmare" crowd wise. The April show is usually much less so than the October show.

Photo ops sometimes at the signing table (usually from what I have seen) but sometimes at other locations. You WILL need to buy the pre show pass!! You DO use your own camera for the most part.

Most artists are around $20 to $50, but prices have dropped considerably in the economy since people just won't pay it. Patrick Stewart actually was arrogant enough to charge $100.

how is that arrogant? if he can get fans to pay that amount, then more power to him.

Why is the prepass necessary? I imagine it's so you can get into the venue and get a good spot in line for the line of your choice? What if you don't get it?

At this point my exact plans are subject to change... but if this all works out my tentative plan is to drive up Saturday... probably arrive around 1 or 2pm but still hit the convention that day... and then hit it from the start on Sunday.

I'm not crazy about the $139 hotel room so I may try to find something cheaper in the area if possible.

RemarkablyInsincere, Chiller is a MESS! The extra $5 for pre-pass is your best bet, unless you don't mind waiting in line for an hour or more just to get your ticket.

Ok, I will definitely order advance tickets. They don't offer pre-show tix on Sunday so that makes my decision easier.

Thanks for the info!

I think I'm gonna spring for the pro-photo... what's $50 for a lifetime memory... are you doing that too Tony?

Anyone know if 5th Avenue Vampires are both performing and signing?

Although probably not needed (based on past shows in the Spring) I will still do it for the being able to solidify an actual reservation time window. I would hate to drive from New Hampshire and only go home with a photo of my daughter with "Booger" from "Revenge of the Nerds".

I hear ya... that's what I was thinking too. Plus, I was thinking it might be a less rushed and more proper photo.

We're one week away from Chiller now... I got 3 friends coming with me for Saturday and Sunday... I absolutely cannot wait!

Lita Ford has also been added as a guest.
