Bout time if you ask me, hope its released with some cool packaging

Warner Bros, or Rihno should stop the bullshit and remaster ALL of them ;)

My dream is to have every album remasterd and released in one big box set, that would be so cool

This is great news. An album that really needs and deserves this treatment. It's too bad these remasters (SO, Killer and now LITD) couldn't have come together with a bonus cd ala B$B with outtakes/demos and live cuts, but I welcome this with open arms. Bravo Steve Hoffman!

That was something Renfield was working on a while back. All the Warners albums anyway. The 'Mega-box' it was nicknamed.

Sadly without him I doubt such a thing would be half as good as it could be even if it ever does happen.

TWFW! I have just been musing over the very same thing.
Obviously without Brian it wouldn't be the same - even if it would happen at all; but Brian did actually start it off with fans, asking for liner notes and rare photos etc. and so I wonder what happened to any of the information and liner notes that he acquired for the project?

Do you mind telling where you got this confirmation?

I posted it on the Hoffman site and some are questioning it because it hasn't come from an official source.

With respect to Brian I'm sure between us all here we could come up with something comparable. Apart from his initial request we never heard anything from him afterwards so who knows what bonus cuts etc we could have expected. The box set will never happen. I seriously doubt it would have happened if Brian was still alive. As Andy Michael said the days of the cd are over ( or something like that ). Unless you are The Beatles you aint mega boxing it. The only hope for unreleased stuff would be downloads.

Thankfully, Steve Hoffman is doing a wonderful job. Killer sounds absolutely stunning. Can't wait for Love It To Death.

Not saying that what you're saying isn't true, but I can't see a record company investing money into something like that only not to get anything back on it, at least on purpose.

Last line from Brian I happened to have heard regarding the hold up... "Record company politics." This was in 2007 maybe.

No, that was in a different context. I was talking in general terms. In relation to any future box set, I think the opposite is true. If it's going to be desirable, with improved sound quality and elaborate packaging, then CD is the only format I can think of it can come out on.

>The only hope for unreleased stuff would be downloads.

In that case, I'm not sure there is any point in trying to improve the sound quality, unless the format is going to be .wav or something. What's the point if people are only going to listen to music on an iPod or something?

?
lossless downloads could be made available with jpeg artwork, that would be very welcomed by most Alice fans.

It's such a shame Shep/Alice/Toby are powerless against the record companies. I was just listening to some of my Genesis 5.1 re-masters - what an amazing job was done to those old classic titles. Beautiful sound, nice DVD extras like concert footage and relevant interviews. A real joy to watch and listen. Kind of like those Hoffman re-masters, but with much more offered.

Depends on which demographic of fans you're talking about too.

Personally I think if it comes out on one then it's probably going to come out on all formats as with about everything these days. If/when the box set comes out then I can't see Rhino or whomever not putting out to iTunes and the other mp3 services out there. That way they have a good part of the market covered. But definitely should come out on CD though.

I know. That's what I said. Did you read the last part of my question, though?

>with jpeg artwork, that would be very welcomed by most Alice fans

Why would it be more welcome than a professionally printed book?

> I was just listening to some of my Genesis 5.1 re-masters - what an amazing job was done to those old classic titles.

But that was done with Alice Cooper (for two albums anyway), as well.
