Misunderstood Alice lyrics?

C'mon, I am sure many of us have done it:

I sang this with such enthusiasm from 1978 until my brother heard me singing it in 1979 (while driving in his 1975 Pinto wagon) and asked me "what the hell did you just say?" Keep in mind that 8-track tapes didn't come with lyrics.

"proposed a toast to Jimmy's GOATS"

Correct me if I am wrong about 8-tracks/lyrics

Not really related but i'll never forget hearing my eldest son a few years ago singing in the back of the car " poppadom reach " instead of papa don't preach!

Remarkably Insincere

The actual lyric: Well, I got your sex and wrote you rubber checks

What I heard: Well, I got your sex and rode your rubber chest

I had a moment when I first heard Poison - the line:

"Don't wanna touch you but you're under my skin (Deep in)"

Even though I know the correct lyrics, it still sounds like the following on the studio version to me...

Don't wanna touch you but you're under my skin (V.D.) ...

Well I sure have/did.

When Shools' Out (and in fact all the LP's up to B$B) was first released I didn't have the lyrics to follow.

My mistakes were numerous and humourous!

On Luney Tune, I sang
"Hey, where have I been?,
And who are they starin' at?" instead of

'And who are those scary men'

"I stole a racer from the Karma Sebring" instead of

'I stole a razor from the Commissary'
(I know, don't ask!!),

"Eyes swimmin' in blood,
Like a rat on a sewer flow" instead of

'I'm swimmin' in blood,
Like a rat on a sewer floor'.

And in Gutter Cat vs The Jets, (a 'Joisey' accent)

"Sleepin' all noit,
Ya pray for da loit of day" instead of

'Sleepin' all night,
A purrfect delight of day'

(Actually, on this one, I prefer my line!!).

And many many others over the years too.

I remember way back when I first heard School's Out I thought the lyrics was:
"No more pencils, no more bollocks, no more teachers turning at us".

My mis-heard lyrics were in 'Desperado' where he sings, "My shots are clean" and I thought he was singing "My shorts are clean" :rotfl:

Mine was not quite so vivid on that line - I thought he was singing "I wanna touch you but you're under my skin (breathe in) !! :rotfl:

:rotfl: :rotfl: That's a VERY funny one!

Since "How You Gonna See Me Now", is based on a letter Alice wrote his wife during his stint at the asylum, your lyrics would mean that Alice's stay at the asylum caused him to "switch teams"!

I have been wondering that too. I tried listening to that part, so carefully, to no avail. Anyone know?

Sounds like "We might not be the sweetest but we always choose the winner"
