True, AND I think his personal favourite track is still 'Serious' off the "From The Inside" album.
Yeah i seem to recall him singling that track out on TFI Friday on Channel 4 many years ago.

Just can't put them into those descriptive categories, as I pretty much love (or like) them all.

Rather, I'll say...

My Most Often Listened To are - LITD, B$B, WTMN, FTF, FTI, and TEOAC.

My Least Often Listened To are - PFY, Dada, Constrictor, RYFAY and Dragontown.

Everything else is comfortable in the middle, and regardless, there are songs I like on ALL of Alice's albums.

but the only exception is constrictor.
the only reason is i played it to death when i got it in the 80's.
very 80's cheese, what can i say its a album of its time.
i'm guilty an i think i've been framed anyway

Being a statistics buff I just had to do this--- I compiled scores for all the results posted so far on album rankings. Around 25 or more people responded and this represents the most hardcore Alice fans, a pretty good sample I think.

I categorized people's rankings on a scale of 0-3 with 3 being the highest rating for an album. Zero is considered a "fair" or ok album. I gave a rating of -1 to albums designated as duds.

I'm a psychology professor so I'm pretty good with statistics, I tried to assign numbers that made sense.

I found these rankings sometimes predictable but surprising too! Here they are with the total points for each album:

1. 3-WAY TIE WITH 63 POINTS - Love it to Death, Killer, Welcome to My Nightmare.

4. Billion Dollar Babies (60)
5. From the Inside (52)
6. School's Out (47)
7. The Last Temptation (45)
8. Brutal Planet (38)
9. Dada (34)
10. Hey Stoopid (33)
11. Flush the Fashion (30)
12. Alice Cooper Goes to Hell (26)
13. TIE: Muscle of Love, Eyes of Alice Cooper (24)
15. Dirty Diamonds (23)
16. Trash (22)
17. Special Forces (21)
18. 3-WAY TIE: Easy Action, Raise Your Fist and Yell, Dragontown
21. Along Came a Spider (12)
22. Zipper Catches Skin (9)
23. Lace and Whiskey (7)
24. Pretties for You (3)
25. Constrictor (1)

ACAS is sure in unwelcome company, too bad about that. Interesting how low Trash is for AC fans.

I've seen Alice joke in interviews that his "blackout" albums are "favorites" with his fans but this isn't really true with highest rank of #9 for Dada and all the way down to #22 for ZCS.

Hope everyone enjoys and I'll update if new people vote and if I get a chance. Meanwhile I think we should all vote on the top 3 (rank them) to break the 3-way tie. Same with #13 and #18.

grim fact wrote:Anyone know if Alice himself has rated his discography, either by album or individual song?
Something like Kiss (Gene and Paul) did in Behind the Mask.

Would be curious to hear Alice's true analysis of his work, and not just his commentary following each album's completion.
in a 1974 interview with Paul Gambaccini when asked that question he said Desperado as he sort of wrote it in memorandum to Jim Morrison ( think Alice went for a Morrison style vocal on the verses) and Dwight Fry.
In an interview in the early 1980s with from memory with either Richard Skinner or Tommy Vance he said Serious was his favourite song
Lead guitar on Social Debris. Album on iTunes, Amazon & Spotify, title track featured on TV
