IS IT WORTH IT?
I haven't been able to get the money to get a VIP Package Sadly. But I was thinking if it would be worth it if I stood by the Coaches before or after the show. Would he spend the time to talk and sign my stuff if people have PAYED for VIP passes, and if he will bother when is better, before or after?

Re: IS IT WORTH IT?
I tried to do the standing-by-the-buses thing last tour but hired security would not allow anyone near the back of the venue... NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
Had a nice chat with Kyler (guitar tech guy) a few hours before the Red Deer show and Brent Fitz from Econoline Crush (who also did drumming duties for Alice prior to this tour) a few hours after the Lethbridge show, but there was no way security would allow folks just hanging around the buses.
In regards to your 'before or after' question... Alice usually doesn't show up at the venue until the last moment (maybe an hour before going on stage, during the opening act's set?) and he's doing the VIP thing well after the show and likes to head off right away I hear. Sad to say, if you can find out the hotel where he's staying or the golf course/shopping area he frequents that's the best bet. But it's hit and miss, my friend.

After the show--if you can get behind the venue or near the busses--you have a decent chance of meeting the band members, but not Alice. Most of his band is cool and will come over and chat, etc. As for Alice, he never does, but don't blame him! Don't be discouraged, though, you never know what may happen. It never hurts to try.

I Know the hotel he goes to in that area, but I think he has a show the day after, therefore he'll sleep on the bus.

Yes, but usually he's escorted straight to the bus or a van and zips away. In South Bend a couple of weeks ago I saw him walk to the bus, but they went a back way and I barely saw him. The band members tend to linger or come on and off the bus.AC Collect wrote:But Hes gotta go to the bus ain't he?

Yup, what Skullboy said...as I've stood by the buses with him before! Odds are not high you'd meet Alice at the buses, but there's a good chance of meeting the band or Calico (not sure about Tiffany, since she's new to the group). I've SEEN Alice walked to the bus or a van about 4 times, and he often waves, but that's it.

Re: IS IT WORTH IT?
The shows i've been to before, the buses were parked in a security area & fans were not allowed to get close to them. Most shows i've been to have been general admision, so i always got there 6 hours before doors opened. I met the band, roadies, & even the snake owner waiting outside before. The one time i met Alice was in a mall across the street from the venue. He is a heavy shopper, so you may have a chance of running into him at a mall close to the venue.

At Wolverhampton Security are really cool, Fans can get to the entrance of the doors to the coaches and maybe at least shake his hand. Would be great to meet the band and calico, maybe I could do some begging to the band for me to see alice for a minute. A minute in paradise I could at least try, I know my way around the Civic Hall

I would say don't ask the band, or crew, to meet Alice. That puts them on the spot, which isn't fair. And if they let one person, others will notice and keep asking, and they can't do that. That won't get you anywhere.

Re: IS IT WORTH IT?
I have "met" Alice (although i think you can only meet somebody once) on a handful of occasions since 1983 (pure luck on that one) and on one occasion I was able to meet him as he went out to the bus, but that also required that I left a few songs early as I was told he boarded the bus rather quickly and he did. It also depends on the venue etc. At some places the bus may not be accessible to you, unlike the Orpheum in Boston where the bus has to basically park in a alley.
Personally, I have referred to this before, but I don't think I could pay for the "privilege" of meeting a person for 1 minute, especially when the fan is why they are there in the first place. Now if it was all going to a charity and might sway my opinion.
I have just been fortunate to have a sister-in-law that has worked in radio and now for a small venue up here that Alice played a few year back.
So, is it worth it? Depends on the individual. At 12 years old that buys alot of video games.

Re: IS IT WORTH IT?
let me add to that:
If MORE was included in the experience, I might also think differently. I mean I am not talking a steam bath with Alice, but maybe a guaranteed meeting with the rest of the band, photo ops on stage after the show , a few shirts, etc.

Also, let me clarify:
When I say that I don't think I would ever pay to meet someone, I mean "I" as in for ME with MY money. For another person I would do it, as I have just made my wife's next dream come true with Soundcheck M&G passes for...ouch, gotta say it...Rick Springfield. Please people, easy on me!
