Dada or RYFAY?
I'm trying to finish my AC collection and I've decided that my next purchase will be either Dada or Raise Your Fist and Yell. I know a couple of songs from each, but I'd love to hear some opinions on what some of you here think of them, which one would you choose, etc.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Dada or RYFAY?
I'd grab Dada first, but that's just me - the guitar work on Fresh Blood and Pass The Gun Around is superb! Raise Your Fist And Yell is fantastic as well - the last half of the album has great storyline potential, very bloody.
I suppose it depends on your personal tastes. RYFAY is good hair-metal, Dada is more classy, more diverse. Oh heck, I'd buy one and return an hour later and get the other.

If I may put forward a slice of personal colostomy...

And knowing me, I'll probably end up doing that!!Shoesalesman wrote:I suppose it depends on your personal tastes. RYFAY is good hair-metal, Dada is more classy, more diverse. Oh heck, I'd buy one and return an hour later and get the other.
Thanks! Maybe I'll get RYFAY first. Seems that's the type of music I've been listening to lately. Although I may be ready for a change.
Decisions, decisions.

Both great albuns, i got raise your fist first, so I would say to you to do the same. It's just great, IMO, one of the best Alice albuns ever. Roses on white lace should be on every show for me
These good little shocks must be working I’m so happy now

It's $12.22 for both of them on Amazon.com
If you don't have the additional $5.24 for Dada I'll buy it for ya...as that would be my choice
They are two completely different records so its hard to say this or that...

Re: Dada or RYFAY?
Personally, I'd choose Dada. Partly because I just had an interest in it and gave it another spin in the car. But, if you have a lot of the albums already, I'd say this one would be more of a change up and another side of Alice. Plus...I really like it!

Dada would get my vote but I was always hanging against the door of the record store waiting for them to open when it was new release day so bought them in release order!
I would never join a club that would have me as a member!
Re: Dada or RYFAY?
It's not the money. When I get a new AC cd (actually any cd), I like to play it to death to really make the decision of what I like about it and what I don't. If I get both of these at the same time, I'll play both of them immediately, not just one at a time (hi, my name is Diane and I have an Alice Cooper addiction ) - but that will be too much of an overload for me for new songs, espeically if they really are that different from each other. They'd both end up on the side while I go back and play all my other favorites. Does that make sense? It's almost as if I don't give them enough of a chance if I get too many new songs to listen to at once. Plus, I'd keep comparing them too much at first too. Maybe I'll get one on iTunes and order the other through Amazon; that should give me enough time. I need some books anyway.Parish wrote:It's $12.22 for both of them on Amazon.com

Well, it seems Dada is edging out RYFAY very slightly. And Marcelocooper, I absolutely love Roses on White Lace. That's one of the reasons why I chose RYFAY as one of the choices.
Thank you all so much. Seems as if I can't go wrong with either one. Off to do some shopping!

and personally, I dont care...(Elected reference)
I never really liked RYFAY *ducks shows being thrown* as I felt Alice was tryin' too hard to compete with the hairspray bands...

Re: Dada or RYFAY?
Alice's true "hair" sound would be 2 years into the future, when that era was nearing it's final few years. So, if anything, Alice jumped on LATE to the "hair" times.Parish wrote:and personally, I dont care...(Elected reference)

I wouldn't say he was trying too hard to compete in terms of RYFAY, and with "Trash" I wouldn't either. I would just say he was going with a "sound" that was in during the 80's and great for his sales that he did. For me, it still is.

Re: Dada or RYFAY?
I would choose Dada too. Very errie.
And Parish....I think Alice did very good competing with hair bands.
He was so much better looking than the "girlie boys".

Same here....I think Dada is in my top 5 Alice albums. I appreciate the fact the you are not on the defensive, as it is only my opinion, which weighs, well equally with your opinion.Parish wrote:Yeah I'm not dissa-greeing with any of your points, I just didnt like the record as much as I like Dada...

Re: Dada or RYFAY?
In my opinion, Dada and RYFAY are Alice's two best 80's albums. I think it depends on what you are in the mood for. If you have been listening to a lot of 80's hard rock/hair bands, RYFAY would be a good choice, but if you want something more diverse, go with Dada. Dada is my favorite of the four "bizarre" early 80's albums, followed by Special Forces.

Personally I think Alice wiped up all the "Hair Bands" With this CD. IMHO ..This is a brilliant CD
