Kudos to my local radio DJ
So, I just got back from grocery shopping. As I left,I got in the car, buckled up, turned the ignition, heard some Alice, and started to back out.
Wait...*blink, blink* "My heart's a virgin, it ain't never been triiiiied." I don't have an Alice CD in! Let along "Goes to Hell!"
The local DJ (on the NWAC affiliate station) was playing "I Never Cry"! Now, YOU may hear that on the radio, but I never have!
Nice surprise!

Re: Kudos to my local radio DJ
Awesome! The most obscure Alice tunes I've ever heard on the radio came from my own show, but that has sadly ended. Hopefully they, and many more like them keep it up.
Re: Kudos to my local radio DJ
I'd be interested in what section of the USA you live in, Miss Perfection. When we lived in Michigan, I'd hear AC all the time on the overhead. The last time I took my wife to the airport there, they were playing "Vengeance" on the local rock station. Strange how I remember some things.
Since we've moved south, I can say that I've heard him only a few times on radio... Once was a rare live "No More Mr. Nice Guy" that I've yet to make sure of. (Possibly Brutally Live)
When we lived in Rochester, NY, I NEVER heard AC on the radio. not once in 11 years. Canadian radio played him all the time, but not 96 WCMF. The one time I can say that I ever really heard AC on that station was when he'd just released "Fistful" and they played "Is Anyone Home?" during a phone interview. Otherwise, it was as if he'd been blacklisted.
My most surrealistic Radio AC experience was in a grocery store in Kalamazoo, sizing up the celery to the sound of "You and Me."

Re: Kudos to my local radio DJ
I have rarely heard Alice on the radio here. Ever since I subscribed to satellite radio I hear him more often. Today, however, was a record: I heard 3 Alice songs on 2 different stations today! I can honestly say that I've heard him more on satellite in the last 18 months than I ever have up until then.
What also blows my mind is when I hear Alice Musak from time-to-time in stores or restaurants.

Thanks to you, I'll never look at these lyrics (or test veggies for freshness at Safeway for that matter) the same way again.
If I may put forward a slice of personal colostomy...

Up here Rock 101 does something called "On The Record", which is kind of a mobile afternoon party. They'll come to your house, store, wherever and play your vinyl over the air.
One show was out of the ski resort, Whistler. Darned if someone didn't come up with a copy of Pretties! I can't remember the track - might have been Titanic - but what a thrill!

You are so right about that one. I Love my "XM". Not because of the fact that it play's alot of Alice, because I have all that, but for the fact that I can hear anything I want....especially the 70's and 80's stuff that I grew up with. I would recommend it to anyone...just wouldn't recommend trying to cancel as I have heard they are a nightmare.SKULLBOY wrote:I have rarely heard Alice on the radio here. Well I mostly listen to Planet Rock these days anyway. So it's not a "problem" anymore

Mainstream radio here give Schools Out, Elected and Poision regular airings, not much else though. Its a while since I listened to Planet Rock.
BTW, you USA folks live in places with fantastic names, always wanted to know what Kalamazoo is like since I heard the Glen Miller song when I was a kid!

I never hear Alice on the radio.
And there is no Nights With AC here either.
However I have a 12 disc changer in the Seville.

Oooooh, I have a feeling that might be close to Metropolis, IL. Last year when I drove down to Alabama to see one of Damon Johnson's solo acoustic shows, I saw Metropolis, IL on the way down. It was very near the Kentucky border, and I stopped there on the way home to see the big Superman statue.
