The tour I wish I had seen
It was really interesting to see the thread about when people first saw Alice live as some fans clearly go back many years while others have seen Alice for the first time more recently. This led me to think about the shows / tours people wished they had seen but didn't cos they were too young, hadn't discovered Alice at that stage or perhaps there were no dates scheduled near their country or city.
For me the one I wish I had seen more than any other has got to be the Madhouse rocks / From the Inside Tour (I wish they would get around to releasing it on DVD!).
Was wondering which tour/ concert other fans wish they had seen but didn't......

Re: The tour I wish I had seen
I'd love to travel back to a B$B or Welcome To My Nightmare show - when Alice seemed a real danger to society. He's such a different 'Alice' now - would have loved to have seen the 'other' one.
Re: The tour I wish I had seen
Personally it's always been the 1978 tour.
Reason being there is so little visual documentation about that show. What exists is very poor (AC and Friends).
The reason I say 1978 is as it was the first sober tour so Alice wasn`t in such bad shape as in '77.
Plus I absoluely love the chickens haha

If you wanted to see Alice when he was considered a real danger to society, then it would really be the Killer, School's Out or Billion Dollar Babies shows. That's when everyone was literally terrified of him. In those days, people really thought Alice was Dracula and capable of god-knows-what.ElectedPlus wrote:I'd love to travel back to a B$B or Welcome To My Nightmare show - when Alice seemed a real danger to society. By Welcome to My Nightmare, Alice had become much more accepted into the mainstream and even had a television special. The public were not as scared of him by then, certainly not like during the Killer days!

Hard to name one tour, really wish I could've seen Billion Dollar Babies, Welcome To My Nightmare and Live in The Flesh. Oh and a Brutal Planet or Dragontown show would've been cool. But if I had a time machine I'd see 'em all

Re: The tour I wish I had seen
I would of loved to see the B$B tour. But I was 10 at the time. Mom wouldnt let me go. My older brother was going to take me to see Alice a couple of years later...when I was 12....but Mom wouldnt give in. I had to see KC and The Sunshine Band instead....what a let down. I was 24 before I saw Alice in 1987.

I'd love to have known about the Marquee gig, believe it was for the Trash tour, that would have been awesome in such a confined venue.
I would never join a club that would have me as a member!

Re: The tour I wish I had seen
I was born in 1981 so i sadly missed out on many of the classic tours. I think the 2 tours which stand out for me were those for Schools Out and Special Forces. The footage i've seen from those tours have a real edge about them.

It would be a toss up between WTMN (because it was so epic for it's day) and Trashes the World.
I have my own red PVC pants reasons for the latter.

Re: The tour I wish I had seen
Thanks glamprincess, I'd lean towards the Billion Dollar Babies for it's extreme extravagance, setlist and stage set out ... (not to mention the chance of seeing the mad dentist Randi at work.)'If you wanted to see Alice when he was considered a real danger to society, then it would really be the Killer, School's Out or Billion Dollar Babies shows'
Amen to thatThank goodness we have the dvd's to give you an idea what they would have been like.

At the risk of being flamed, and with all due respect to the original members who wrote the material and developed the schtick, the current hired guns play the music live better than the party animals in the early 70s.

Re: The tour I wish I had seen
I saw it and IMO you did not miss much. I believe on this tour he had Davy Johnstone and also the bass player from Elton John with him. Way too vaudeville and light on the hard edge rock of just a few years earlier.Si wrote:Personally it's always been the 1978 tour.
