New album on the way!

Post by Dragonlady » Fri Jul 24, 2009 4:48 pm

Had to listen to that twice to be sure and I even tried to record it (on my camera)
(Thursday's show on Planet Rock about 15 min into the show)

I am listening to yesterday's show and Alice mentioned three song already written for the next album!

How cool is that?

He has the A-team of Damon, Keri and Chuck together and hopefully as a group they can come up with some kick ass RNR! Get the riffage perfected then go get Eric to add his magic in the studio.

Exciting news!!!

I (think) I read an article last year when he either said he had material for 3 albums or '3 more albums in him'. Either way, this is great news!
...And personally, I don't care.

No, I'm quite sincere when I say that there is no way it could match 71-74.

Not that I wouldn't be interested in it, should it ever happen.

I believe to my hearts bottom that they could pull it off. Its just Alice will have to let Dun and Bruce write. They still know how to rock. As much as I love Alice, his last few albums haven’t done it for me so I'm up for something new like a reunion.

What has Michael written in the last thirty - six years that is so great?

Well Battle Axe was better than Lace and Whiskey IMO.
You could argue that nothing that Alice has written in the last 36yrs is as great as Cooper/Bruce/Dunaway/Smith/
Buxton. The music press undoubtedly think so. Alice might think so to as he includes such a big chunk of the songs in his set. Certainly, he won't be getting in the RnR Hall of Fame for his solo stuff. If he does it would be for LITD through BDB's. You could argue that if the original band where still together he might be in there now.

>Well Battle Axe was better than Lace and Whiskey IMO.

So what? Almost anything is better than "Lace And Whiskey".

>You could argue that nothing that Alice has written in the last 36yrs is as great as Cooper/Bruce/Dunaway/Smith/Buxton.

Actually, you can't. The burden of proof (if you can call it that) is on Malchik because he (or she) brought made the assertion. My point, since you missed it (again) is that Michael hasn't really done enough since 1973 for anyone to be able to say whether he is still a good song - writer or not. He said back in 1997 or so that there was an album on the way, but we're still waiting.

>The music press undoubtedly think so. Alice might think so to as he includes such a big chunk of the songs in his set.

Again, you're missing the point. Alice has had a succesful career away from the original band. Not only has Michael not had a succesful career since then, he's had no career to speak of (this is going to sound like an attack on Michael when it isn't). Again, my point is that you can't compare Alice's career since 1973 with Michael's lack of a career.

>Certainly, he won't be getting in the RnR Hall of Fame for his solo stuff.

That really is a silly thing to say (even if it's true) in the context of this debate. That would be like saying that Michael will get into it based on his "solo stuff".

> If he does it would be for LITD through BDB's. You could argue that if the original band where still together he might be in there now.

That's so hypothetical that it's almost impossible to put that forward as a point for debate. What if the band had never met Bob Ezrin, then? They might have never had a career at all.

ACAS is the only Alice album I haven't listened to. I listened to the free clips and just didn't like it. I'd prefer something more like The Eyes Of.

With Alice's track record since BP, I actually do not get to excited to hear that he's coming out with a new album.

While I would obviously love to hear about AC working with DD, MB and NS again, it would be no guarantee of a monster album. You would need an Ezrin type producer to get anywhere near the magic of those bygone years.

Now if Alice was working with Jack White or Rick Rubin, I would say the chances of a kick-ass album are at least plausible and that is something I could get excited about.

I think Zak is getting dumped by Ozzy, maybe a hired gun-slinger like Zak could inject some new life.
