THIS is how serious my 9 yr old is about 'Alice"

Post by TonyfromNH » Fri Jul 17, 2009 11:11 am

2 years ago she began relentlessly begging mom and myself to change her name to CALICO.... we said "no" as we loved the name we had given her (Alyssa) and wanted her to keep it. We thought this request would pass in 2 weeks but she continued to torture us daily.

In October of 2008 (due to continued pressure) we agreed that if she still felt this way in the Summer of 2009 we would LEGALLY have her MIDDLE name changed to Calico as she so desired. Well, I must tell you that it is now in the process, and the forms have been filled out and submitted to the court in our state of New Hampshire.

One of the newspapers she has been in link:

scotty, She just read your post and it brought a big smile. She loves to hear adults commending her musical taste. Her friend's do not get it. She say's to them "Alice is like Moxie...an acquired taste, and I love Moxie".

All interesting stuff. Our youngest daughter, Scarlet (now 11), was going to a friends slumber party. Said she was taking a DVD to play to her friends. When we looked in her bag, she had packed the WTMN DVD!
...And personally, I don't care.

Dave Conway, Oh my God, I can not let my daughter see this post. If I do she will want to change her first name to Scarlet as well. That name is beautiful. As for the DVD WTMN.....I just about messed my pants when I read that one!!! That just made my "bad" day a good one.

Glad I made you laugh. Sadley, not Da Da inspired, I had not heard the album then. Named her after the charracter in '4 Weddings & a Funeral'!

Billie1966, Thanks for the kind words! I guess it is a matter of opinion as to an appropriate age to bring a kid to a show. Granted, there are many shows I never would consider, but an Alice show is a "generation" event. At 41 yrs old I am younger than 1/2 the crowd, which makes it great because people are not there to get rowdy....just have a good time. The first time that she saw Alice a band called "Wednesday 13" opened for him. That I can say my daughter WAS INDEED way too young for. Nasty stuff! We took her out until Alice came on. So I can understand your sisters concern. We like seeing him at the casino's when there is no opening band. Keep working on her!

But some casinos do not allow children to the shows. In fact, just last year, we happened to be in Chicago when Alice was playing the Horseshoe casino but we could not go because the casino said our kids could not attend.

Because of the language or other reasons?

Swinger,
It was mostly because of the language, but graphic sexual gestures would have been a little uncomfortable if she had seen it, but I was at fault by not researching it ahead of time anyway. One of the staff members was saying Alice was actually bothered by it immensely as it is supposed to be understood that the promoter book an appropriate act. Next time I will be certain to look into it.

glamprincess, I have heard that before...I guess we are lucky to have a few places on the East coast that allow it.

I Agree Your Daughter is Too Young for Wednesday 13, But that would have been a good show, Wednesday 13 AND Alice, Wednesday 13 Rules (Not as Much as Alice of course)
