uk festivals-why no Alice say at Glastonbury?

Noticed Alice saying in an interview he was being pencilled in for festivals next year in UK i think-may just be talk..but why isn't he at Glasto etc in your view..frankly I'm baffled

Thinking about it, i'm quite surprised about him talking about festivals for a tour that he seems to have created for the smaller, more intimate venues.

Unless of course it's a different show for the bigger festivals.

As (I think) has been explained here before, performers have to be invited to appear at a particular venue or location - they don't normally pick and choose where and when they will perform.

Next year is the 40th at Glastonbury, so Alice may be invited, whether he is or not, have to wait some time for that.

But the promoter, (cannot think who he is) says artistes who have not played there before would be invited to play.

I hope he leaves the festivals well alone and plays small halls instead.
Thats on a personally selfish note, as I don`t do festivals anymore.

Glastonbury traditionally seems to avoid anything remotely heavy. It always amazes me that with so many bands playing, so few are heavy rock/metal. It seems as soon as a band is linked with heavier music they are automaticaly not Glasto material.

There are a few exceptions of course. Yes played a couple of years ago. Spinal Tap played this year (but they have the joke factor in theri favour, and Quo, but they are pretty much mainstream.

Personally I am very happy that AC doesn`t do UK festivals. They are a pain generally speaking and I'm too old to enjoy standing in a field for hours on end. If he played Glastonbury I wouldn`t be there, even if I stood a chance of getting tickets in their lottery system.

I personally, old as I am, wouldn't mind going to a festival and standing in a field all day (used to do alot of fruit-picking as a kid) as long as there was more than one band worth watching.
But Glastonbury!!! What a joke, where exactly would you put Alice? Somewhere between 'Echo and the Bunnymen' and the 'Hip-Hop karaoke'?
Would be great if the Coop played a British festival, just to show some of those idiots that there is more to him than 'Poison' or 'Schools Out', but please god no!! Not Glastonbury.

I missed Kiss and Sabbath the last time around cos they were festivals, which may mean my chance of seeing any of them again has sadly passed.

I for one would plead with Alice that he stays well away from the festivals,Ticket prices for indoor gigs are expensive enough,no way do i want to be spending even more on a festival ticket,especially as i only want to see the main act.

Alice did Monsters of Rock at Milton Keynes Bowl 06, not strictly a 'festival' as only on for one day, but all top stuff anyway, and my legs held out for the duration. Deep Purple where headlining.

I have to admit that MoR in 2006 was about my limit - I have enough trouble tolerating the support bands on a normal tour - I like to get straight to the action! Also I agree with Rob; ticket prices for festivals (especially for Glastonbury) tend to be ludicrous.

Scarmbling for seats aside, I have to say I'm looking forward to seeing the new tour in smaller venues here rather than the big ol' arenas.

I hear alot of people not enjoying support bands. Have always loved them tho - it's great experiencing alot of bands first hand from a live performance ... Twisted Sister, Motorhead, Thunder, Quireboys etc. Would have been a shame to have missed out on them.

I'd guess it's more of an understanding crowd at a festival tho, as they're not all fans of the same band are are all there for different reasons.
