Michael Jackson gets the credit.....

Post by glamprincess » Fri Jun 26, 2009 10:58 am

I was watching some of the coverage on Michael Jackson on CNN last night. At some point, they interviewed Randy Jackson, one of the judges from American Idol, who while gushing about Michael's accomplishments then said, "and Michael Jackson was the one who brought theatrics into rock n' roll". Oy.

....I guess Alice Cooper fans are used to this sort of thing...

Yes, unfortunately we are, aren't we, Glam?

I may be wrong - I have been wrong before - but, back in the early 70's or thereabouts, didn't Alice actually introduce MJ to exotic pets, such as his first Boa Constrictor, too?

I think Michael had some great songs and was quiet the enertainer. And yes....he could write. But he was a messed up guy, Who couldnt handle being black. As if that mattered.
He was fighting his own deamons. Or as Alice would say.."He was his own worst enemy".
I give him credit for beating Disco and bringing back POP music.

::((: You think these people would get their facts straight. Alice never gets the credit he deserves for things. Can't say I've ever really been a fan of Jackson, but some of his stuff was ok.

I have to chime in here regarding Michael Jackson. He was a brilliant performer but that brilliance was forever dulled by his ego’s enablers as well as his questionable desires. I was a casual fan of The Jackson Five and one or two songs by Jackson himself so I cannot mourn his music although I can mourn the childhood he never had…

And Alice used Vincent Price first...

No doubt Miohael Jackson was a brilliant singer and dancer, but Quincy Jones was a huge part of the 3 albums they worked on together.

Once they stopped working together, it was never quite the same.

In the same way Bob was with the ACG.

Alice was being extensively quoted on the Channel 9 Sydney and I presume the rest of Australia's news today He called Michael "the modern day Fred Astaire "

Your comment about the boa constrictor does sound vaguely familiar. I do seem to remember that when Michael was asked what he thought of Alice Cooper, he said something along the lines that he liked his theatrical shows.....

For another example, rock historians like to make a big deal how the punk rockers were spitting on audiences in the late 70s...and seem to ignore the fact that Alice Cooper was already doing that in the early 70s.

And so it continues....

Funny, in the Netherlands it was the other way around, the punk acts were spit on by the audience, and not a few, yek

I read somewhere yesterday that MJ was going to have a spider incorporated into his stage backdrop, wonder where he got that idea from?

Maybe the same place that David Bowie got the idea for his "Glass Spider" tour.

Was actually thinking more on the lines that Alice will likely have a spider on the new tour.

I doubt Michael Jackson was aware of what Alice was currently doing or about to do.

uh, yeah. safe to say that michael didn't give a crap about what alice does. however, that is not the case with kiss. i saw them in 98 during the carnival tour, they attended one of the west hollywood shows. right after that, they started the 'psycho circus' tour.
