Chop, Chop, Chop
I can't be the first one to have noticed this, so I am sorry if it has been discussed before.
At the end of Chop, Chop, Chop Alice sings (well speaks)
She was standing on the corner with her bright red lips,
Her face was so white and pale. So Pale.
She had a black leather skirt, it was tight to her hips
And an anklet with a name. It spelt
M....A....R....Y Gail, Gail, Gail.
OK I appreciate that pale rhymes with Gail but????????

Re: Chop, Chop, Chop
The murderer is so obsessed with Gail that he sees her everywhere. So a woman with an anklet spelling a 4-letter name? To a whacked out psycho...any 4-letter name must be...Gail!
(Alice said this on NWAC, so for what it's worth, I'm not just makin' it up, but going by an explanation he's given.)

And all along I just thought Alice couldn't spell worth a darn.
"Golly gee it's wrong to be so guilty..."
Re: Chop, Chop, Chop
I would love Alice to put in chop chop chop,Gail & Roses on white lace into a show
I wanna hurt you just to hear you screaming my name
Re: Chop, Chop, Chop
"Gail" is also Sheryl's middle name...NotSoPerfect wrote:The murderer is so obsessed with Gail that he sees her everywhere. So a woman with an anklet spelling a 4-letter name? To a whacked out psycho...any 4-letter name must be...Gail!

Gail is such a wonderful song. I always wondered about that. Closure is awesome.

With Kip Winger in the credits for Gail I wonder if he contributed with lyrics or the music. Could be both I suppose.
If I may put forward a slice of personal colostomy...

I suppose clicking on Kip Winger under the Musicians tab would have told me that it was with the lyrics.

Re: Chop, Chop, Chop
Okay...there's another mention about Kip writing Gail, scroll halfway down on the same "musicians" link of Kip's...
http://www.sickthingsuk.co.uk/musicians/m-kipwinger.php
"This album was produced by Michael Wagner, and the sessions were a lot of fun. I got to write a little classical bit which ended up as "Gail."
Kip mentioning writing a classical bit makes me wonder if it was the music he influenced and not the words. Can anyone add to this if they know?

I think we can safely assume that Alice wrote at least the majority of the lyrics.

Re: Chop, Chop, Chop
Given that he plays keyboards on that song while Paul Horrowitz plays on the rest on the album does seems, to me at least, like it was the music he was involved with.Shoesalesman wrote:With Kip Winger in the credits for Gail I wonder if he contributed with lyrics or the music. I know he did them on the RYFAY tour. Not sure if they've been done since or not.

Thanks! I forgot about the 'setlists' tab! Just saw that.
Re: Chop, Chop, Chop
Surely a candidate for one of the worst Alice Cooper songs of the 80's.

Re: Chop, Chop, Chop
I respectfully disagree. I love the entire RYFAY album.
