Would be nicer if they had true online ordering, but I guess that's better than nothing.

I'll definitely be ordering a few copies...

Si wrote:The reason I haven`t made a big deal about it is mainly that I didn`t see it as a big deal. It's a reissue of an album we already have. Granted it's remastered [no new material?], but not being an audiophile myself that alone doesn`t make me that excited, sorry. Now there is an actual release date I'll add a link etc to the news page shortly.
Cool... and I do hope when this is released you'll see for yourself if you like the mastering.

The chance to get this classic release treated with the utmost care and respect to the original material is a big deal to me.... especially considering the way things are going in the industry today.

It's $24.99 in US dollars.

Not sure why it would be that much more.

No, definitely stated £24.99, but now it’s down to £22.99, follow the UK link. Sorry, still far too much in these trying times. That's far more expensive than gold at the same weight and at those sort of price I can't see many units being shifted. ::((:

It's probably more in the UK because they have to import it from the US. It's not a UK release.

The pound is also much weaker against the dollar than it used to be so i dont suppose that helps.

For anyone interested in how Steve Hoffman goes about his mastering process, here's a thread about his recent remastering of the Beach Boys legendary PET SOUNDS.

I wish he'd gone into this kinda detail about SCHOOL'S OUT, but ah well...

Borders.com is listing this for pre-order at $23.99.

However, right now they have a 30% OFF ONE ITEM coupon in effect through 1/19/09 that takes the price of the CD down to $16.79!

The code to enter is: SLE5741W

They charge $8.98 for shipping to the UK, so with this coupon you could get this shipped to the UK for $25.77 total.

According to Amazon it's delayed until February 17th... apparently the hold up was due to artwork.

Perhaps they're manufacturing panties as we speak.

Interesting description on Amazon:

Product Description

Our 24K + series will bring you classic music in deluxe packaging with see through slip cases (ala DCC), using original graphics, all beautifully reproduced. We only use the original master tape which is played back on a specially constructed vintage tube playback deck. Here's where the "plus (+)" comes in: The analog masters are put through our new "Kensei Audio Transformer," which adds true "breath of life" to the music, making our new 24K + Gold CD series the best sounding music you can buy, period!

My email from Amazon said that the release date had been changed by the supplier (though didn't say what to) and I was given an estimated delivery date bracket of Feb 2th - Mar 3rd. I would imagine that the variation in date is coz I'm in the UK.

Blimey - talk about jinxing it. Just got another email from Amazon:

Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we
need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date:

Alice Cooper "School's Out" [Audio CD]
Estimated arrival date: 17/03/09 - 24/03/09

:(

To me, this is all good news....

1. Maybe they are tweaking the mix to sonic perfection....
2. Maybe they're goosing the art! (Come o-o-on, PANTIES!)
3. MAYBE they've had so many pre-release orders that they had to make more to meet the numbers!

Hopefully, it's all of the above. I will happily wait a few more weeks. Sweet anticipation!
