Herod's song
Can that song be purchased online somewhere? I don't know where to find it. Took me years to find Sharpest pain (had to buy an iTunes Japan gift card), I hope the hunt for that one will be shorter.

Quite right. It is. A fantastic track, well suited to Alices' vocal delivery, and so sarcastic!!sparkinthedark wrote:As far as I know it's not available to purchase as an individual track anywhere but it's on (I think) the Jesus Christ Superstar "1996 London Cast Recording".
The album is called "Highlights from Jesus Christ Superstar", [Polydor 537686-2] Track 12, the best track out of all 18 on the cd IMHO.
I do not know if this is still available
When life becomes more real than children's games

My God.

I checked on Amazon.com - it can be purchased as an mp3. I just ran a search for "Jesus Christ Superstar Alice Cooper" on the Amazon site, and it popped up the correct version of the JCS album - with offers of the mp3 for each cut including Herod's Song.
Naturally you are all going to click into Amazon through the STUK site in order to buy this song... :halloween-25:

If you search 'Highlights from Jesus Christ Superstar' on Amazon UK (through this site naturally) it comes up available as both new and used (and at a very reasonable price too).
If you went for the cd though, you need to take some care.
The original Broadway Cast (with Ian Gillan) is not the cd with Alice!
The version I have has the Blue/Black cover and stars Steve Balsamo from the London cast (it says here!), as pointed out above by Sparky.

I Just Youtubed it, and am amazed!!! great performance!...of course, I could have done it better.....Maurice wrote:Highly recommended listening Dave.
You will enjoy it; plus, I am sure, with your thespian background, it may help to throw an entirely new light on that role!
I will investigate this album/recording EVEN further now...as I have never seen the Original movie, or really heard the soundtrack...( a couple of my old friends "rave" about the film/OST...but I have so far not been introduced to it....)
A soundtrack with Da Coop on it sounds like a good place to start!!
cheers!

Take care with this one Dave, because I *think* I am right in saying that this was only a studio recording of some of the songs from the show - hence "Highlights", courtesy of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.DaveJay wrote: I Just Youtubed it, and am amazed!!! great performance!...of course, I could have done it better.....

The point here being that this is the only Alice track on the album, and - even liking musicals as I do - this one leaves me cold; a bit too 'screachy, preachy' really, for my taste, and the Alice track stands alone in style and delivery, (IMHO).
But, if you can snap the album at a good price, it is well worth it. There was an interview with Tim Rice around the time of the recording - or shortly after - and he spoke of Alice (and his family) as 'lovely family, lovely people', but then he is a bit of a 'luvvie' himself!!
