Hi everyone,
I was re- reading an old (1986) Kerrang magazine recently, which has a feature on the "Nightmare returns" Detroit show.
The writer ( Dave Dickson) quotes lyrics from "Second coming", and mentions that Alice played it as part of the show......
I saw the show several times in the UK , and of course, have the Video....but there is no sign of that track being played, nor do I have any recollection of it being played live during the tour......
Is this just a "Writers" glitch...or am I indeed missing out on something ???
...Just curious.....

Yeah i remember reading that, i always assumed he got that song mixed up with Dwight Frye

Do you think that maybe he is referring to the end of second coming/beginning of Dwight Frye with the girl's voice?

I think the writer got it wrong. I saw Alice in the Nightmare Returns show, more than once, and he didn't play Second Coming.

He didn't play it at the Wembley, Manchester, Newcastle or Birmingham shows I was at.

Pretty sure the writer made a mistake.

What a show that was.

Exactly. And it's raw live and powerful, not touched up or any of that stuff. Not to mention a kick ass audience.

it would bewilder me if anyone hated anything having to do with kane roberts.

i own an official Kane Roberts t shirt lol. it has the machine gun guitar on the back!

The Kane Roberts years were slamming!!!
I wish we could see that again. The Constrictor effort was a little soft in areas. Due to production But killed live. IMO
Raise your fist and yell is brilliant. I know some people here do not like that CD/album I thought it was one of Alice's shining moments.
When Ken Mary...(who is a MONSTER btw) again IMO...and Michael Wagner showed up...it was a great chemistry for sure.

Well i certainly know of many people who don't rate the Kane Roberts era. I liked the 2 albums (moreso RYFAY due to the flat production of Constrictor). But yeah, they were a great live band. Ken Mary and Kane Roberts were pretty talented to say the least!

I would love to see a DVD of the RYFAY tour (if a professionally shot video even exists?).

Getting back to the topic, I still think the writer got confused about just what song 'Mommy where's daddy?.....' was from.

Anyway, Kane Roberts era; horrible, the show was OK, a bit contrived, a bit 'cartoon', but giving Alice Cooper classics the 'heavy metal' treatment was crass and embarressing. For me, that era 86 - 91 was a mockery of the Alice Cooper concept of the 70's. Give me a 'mindless' yet CREATIVE Alice in Toronto thinking up the Dada concept album ANYDAY!

In my humble opinion Dead Babies in the Life in the Flesh tour sounded great !
And Welcome to my nightmare in the earlier Nightmare Returns tour sounded even better then ever before...

Aye, I'll go along with those two actually.

Alice wanted Randy Piper originally for guitar in that era, I think he would have looked more 'Alice', but the whole 'Alice goes WASP' thing made me cringe honestly - especailly when he did that hideous photo shoot of blood and limbs in the bath etc.

I like the intro to I'm Eighteen on the video, when he's leaning on the crutch before the first lines of the song. Was a bit metalish, possibly, but good nonetheless.

live in the flesh = the most underrated stage shows ever.
