Gold and Platinum Albums In Canada

There has been a lot of discussion on how many albums Alice has sold in his career? Unfortunately there is no real way of knowing that. Even the RIAA site which list gold and platinum album sales in the United States is not really accurate. Certain albums that probably should have been recertified never have and perhaps a few albums that did not receive gold certifications probably should have by now. It seems like I recall Brian Nelson saying one time "The Alice Cooper Show" was close to gold. This was years ago perhaps on the old sickthings mailing list, etc. Anyway I did some research a few minutes ago and I don't recall ever seeing this before. The following are gold and platinum certifications for Canada. Please note that due to a smaller population it doesn't take nearly as many units to get certified in Canada. This information is coming from http://www.cria.ca/. I don't remember seeing these figures before. I thought it was interesting that "Flush the Fashion" was certified gold and Brutally Live was certified gold as well. If this has been posted before I apologize.

This is exactly what I was talking about on the other thread: the fact that Canadian sales are not proportionately lower than US sales. In the above info, it says that Hey Stoopid had sold over 100,000 copies and was certified platinum in Canada back in 1991. And I would imagine there were additional sales since that certification and today. The total sales of Hey Stoopid in the US (per SoundScan) is only 350,000 copies. So Canadian sales are around a third of US sales even though Canada's population is only 10% of the US.
