Post by Stuart » Tue Aug 05, 2008 5:32 pm

Hey there,
if you had to choose, which one would you prefer to listen to? In My Own Way by Michael Bruce or Platinum God by Neal Smith?

I have In My Own Way, but no Platinum God. So for right now, In My Own Way.

... which by the way is one fine album.
If I may put forward a slice of personal colostomy...

platinum god great title song the maneater songs are awesome, baby, please don't stop , rock and roll radio etc...
He never seemed to like his voice but i think it works really well on the album, michael btuces in my own way is good but i can find some of the songs a bit weak at times, but i really like morning song!
He does the complete sessions as a good double cd collection for fans.

And why don't you add dennis dunaway project in????
The words I speak are true, we're all humanary stew, if we don't pledge allegiance to, AC12

What was the last Neal Smith album like? Worth getting. I like Platinum God but I'm not a huge fan of his voice.

I'd have to go for In My Own Way, it's a fun album. Some good songs there that would have been great with the contribution of Alice. They do stand up well on their own though too.

Hey, I didn't include the Dennis Dunaway project cause I don't have it and when I think of In My Own Way and Platinum God, although being released far apart, they were recorded close enough in time.

What is the last Dennis Dunaway CD like? Cheers

I think Platinum God is much better than In My Own Way, of course, I don't think either has really good songwriting on display (a real letdown given M. Bruce's songrwriting credits), but PG at least has some good (i.e. characteristic) playing coutesy of Smith and Dunaway. The only thing I listen to a lot from any of the other members is Battle Axe.

In My Own Way has some great rhythm guitar on it. I was immediately hooked on it from the first listen.

Si has a review of Sexual Savior here.
I like it, but it's definitely one that a lot of people wouldn't like. And as Si says in the review a lot of the songs aren't really singing but more like talking in a real gutteral voice.
PLEASE, save me from this sick man!
