in my opinion if you look between i love the dead and da da, he has written quite a bit of crap too.steven_crayn wrote:I like what Greg and Danny have done on the new album and if Alice was to work with them again that would be a good step, but I also would love Alice to work with Bob Ezrin again as his best work was done with Bob who is one of the all time great producers and definitley my favourite producer who also brings a lot to the table as a co song writer.MacQueen wrote:

Bob's official site is under construction (I believe), but this gives you an idea somewhat of what he's done recently...MacQueen wrote:Speaking of which, has Ezrin produced anything lately?

Fair enough. I do have to say that I absolutely love Some Folks. There is no rhyme nor reason, but I love it. I guess it is because it is so weird. I didn't really like it until I saw it on the WTMN dvd....that was messed up.hywel wrote:yes of course, they just dont do it for me. for instance i hate some folks, it is terrible just like im the coolest , you gotta dance, give the kid a break ahhhhhhhrgh it is so cheesy, and damned if you do sends shivers down my spine. sorry for ranting. kotsc and inwts are terrible in my opinion. guilty road rats and its hot tonight are just about bearable.Feezle-Nuts wrote:When you say you don't rate them, you mean these are the ones you don't like?

Feezle-Nuts, I never thought I would say it...but, I agree with you. Some Folks is one of my all time favorite songs. It has a good balance between being funny and sick at the same time, while showing great musicality.
With ACAS, Alice is still in that "less is more" mentality he's been in since Eyes. Songs written quickly. Minimal arrangements. Not overly produced.
Most of the songs are Cooper, Hampton, Saber, and Singer performing. That's what I hear when I listen to ACAS with headphones.
With Bob Ezrin, we know the production and arrangement will be over the top, which means the studio time will be more.....more cost. Maybe it's better to put out a "cheap" album. So, the money saved can be put toward a better stage production.

With the advancements in technology and what not, recording time could be considerably less these days for all we know. Not using tape, etc.GailsFriend wrote:With Bob Ezrin, we know the production and arrangement will be over the top, which means the studio time will be more.....more cost. Right, something people have been waiting on for 5 years. So, the money saved can be put toward a better stage production.

With songs like Zombie Dance, DD, Woman of Mass Destruction, Sunset Babies, I wouldn't say it is 'far' superior.RemarkablyInsincere wrote:ACAS is far superior to DD.
I'd still have to say that DD is my fave of the two. A few years after getting it, I still put on DD. In a couple of years time I can't see myself listening to ACAS all too much. I do like the album, some of the songs are good: Wake the Dead, Killed by Love, but the lyrics and repitition just don't do it for me ;-(

The plodding boredom of "Zombie Dance", "Six Hours", and "Run Down The Devil" don't do it for me.Stuart wrote:With songs like Zombie Dance, DD, Woman of Mass Destruction, Sunset Babies, I wouldn't say it is 'far' superior.RemarkablyInsincere wrote:ACAS is far superior to DD.

DD has far too much filler and the production is poopoo.
ACAS by a landslide.

Just did a count from the ACAS review threads, it's basically split in half, with only a difference of one review giving the positive side an edge. Error of margin +/- 3 reviews.RemarkablyInsincere wrote:For what it's worth... reviews of ACAS over at the Metal Sludge boards seem to be 3-1 positive to negative.

The hand clapping doesn't bother me... not sure what the hang up is. There's certainly a lot of guitar on ACAS.WickedYoungMan wrote:Hmmm, personally I'd rather take guitars over handclapping.. but okay.
Regardless, I was speaking more towards the 'production values'... DD just doesn't sound very good.

DD was maligned a lot more from what I remember... perhaps you can go count those reviews too.
