"The Nightmare Returns" - Simulcast LIVE Or not?
We have our originally recorded version of "Nightmare Returns" on VHS from the MTV simulcast.
I've seen it mentioned that it was simulcast *live* on MTV. However, on my VHS version, there is actually a commercial break somewhere around "I'm Eighteen" & "The World Needs Guts" (or very near there at least.) It comes back from the 1:30 or 2:00 minute or so commercial break unedited setlist wise.
Is it actually confirmed that it was simulcast live or was just filmed and broadcast later that night with commercials edited into it? Maybe it's a later rebroadcast that we got on tape?
I don't mean to doubt any reports or anything and it's no biggie, just curious is all.

There are multiple mentions here on STUK about this being aired that night on MTV, and also under "Video Footage/TV Appearances" it says this

Official film of the 'Nightmare Returns' (Constrictor) tour filmed at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit and aired live on MTV 31/10/86. Transmission versions also exist.
Sounds like it's one of these "transmission versions" that you got!

I remember watching this when it aired. The reason that I always believed it was live was because of the scene where the girl flashes the stage. They showed that, uncensored, on MTV. I remember this well because I was an 11 year old boy, and what 11 year old boy wouldn't remember seeing that?! Man, that brings back memories! I was just getting into Alice at the time.

The timeline here on STUK does mention a show at that venue both the 30th and the 31st, but says the 31st was the one taped for the special.
