The Worst of Alice Cooper---the playlist

Ok, so all this discussion of "Cringe-Worthy Lyrics of AC" and ACAS "sucks"---made me go through my entire collection in my iPod---and make up a playlist of what I personally thought were the weakest songs over the last 40 years.....and I listenened to them, on shuffle, of course.

I have nearly everything of Alice, all the albums of course, but some songs like "Sextette" are missing. But, I have "The Toy Master" and "Mankind"---so after making up the playlist of 47 songs of what I felt were his weakest offerings...I made a decision of how I felt about them again.

Final Verdict for me.....Alice Cooper's "weakest" offerings over the last 40 years are still WAY better than any other band ever dreamed of doing.
And they are much better when you listen to them together....Alice's diverse catalog of music changes the way they are percieved when grouped together.

Just my opinion. You try it and see.

I'm also giving my lesser favorite songs a spin lately. I've done that to a couple of songs in the past and now they're part of my favorite list, so I'm hoping it'll work for Deeper. If not, we'll move on to another song.

See here is the point of what makes an Alice Cooper album good, only he can do the songs, which is what was missing from Eyes and Diamonds.

mmm I dont know- for example - if any one else sang the Ballad of Jessie James. I would think that dude is wierd as h*ll ! !

When Alice sings it I think, wow what a hilarious ,catchy satire tune , that is genius . Only Alice could do that

I was going on what people here have said, and what I thought....that is how I decided my list.

most of PFY and EA
Black Juju
MaryAnn
The Man With The Golden Gun
Steven---(just because this song frightened me as a child! EVIL Song!)
Guilty
Damned if you Do
Ubangi Stomp
No More Love at your Convenience
Millie and Billie---(one of my favorites--but someone said they didn't like it. I mean who couldn't like a song where one of the characters gets a lobotomy while another character pounds on the Asylum door-----Millie!!!)
Grim Facts
Dance Yourself to Death
Skeletons in the Closet
You Want it, You Got it
No Baloney Homosapiens
I am the Future
Scarlet and Sheba
Fresh Blood
The Life and the Death of the Party
Thrill My Gorilla
Give the Radio Back
Time to Kill
Trash---so bad I just didn't put it in my Ipod! Curse Desmond Child!
Only My Heart Talkin
Burning Our Bed
Snakebite
Feed My Frankenstein---just not a favorite.
Unholy War
Eat Some More
Pick Up the Bones
Fantasy Man
Somewhere In the Jungle
What Do You Want From Me
Man of the Year
The Sharpest Pain
You Make Me Wanna
Run Down the Devil

For Britain Only
Fire--terrible cover
Hey, Bulldog--terrible cover
Why Don't You Love Me
Im Flash
Space Pirates

Weird---when i listen to these collectively---all of a sudden I am tapping my foot and singing all over again.....thinking, "these aren't that bad"

That really is the point of this discussion. In my opinion, most people will change their perception of a "bad" Alice Cooper song over time. So, if people say "this songs sucks" today----more than likely, with Alice, they will be saying---"I love this song" later.

It happens to me and it WILL happen to you. Why? Because Alice Cooper rules. He is a great songwriter and arranger. So, in my opinion, it's laughable for anyone to give Alice Cooper a bad review because, trust me.....that opinion will change.

So by your logic, wouldn't it be laughable for someone to give Alice Cooper a good review as well?

Eventually, Alice wins in the end. I really think it is a "one-way street" in terms of "bad" reviews turning into good reviews.....the songs were good all along....the only thing that changed was the opinion of the listener....eventually the listener appreciates the music better over time.

Can anybody name a song that they "loved" by Alice----and then later "hated"???
I don't think so....hasn't happened to me.
Black Juju was crap when I was a kid......now, I like it better.....not love, but like.
The whole "Wake up!" part just irks me.....but I like that it irks me now.

The responsibility of a creative artist--in any form, sculpture, drawing, literature, music, movies---is to illicit a response, good or bad.
Which means Alice is doing his job RIGHT. Alice would really suck if he couldn't get anyone's attention....so even the "bad" reviews are really "good"---see?

Somewhat.... Lost In America.
I don't think so....hasn't happened to me.
How about that.

Used to love "Great American Success Story"....Now I can't stand it. Same thing with "Hey Stoopid" (song, not the album).

As far as whole albums go, I used to really like 'Constrictor', now I don't. Same with 'Trash' as a whole.

So no, you are wrong. It is a two way street. Maybe not with you, but it is with other people.

But, I have listening to Alice for over 30 years.....so some songs bring memories, and ideas to my head, and there is a certain fondness there. Even if it isn't one of my favorites.
Alice is like an old friend to me....it's hard to say I don't like any of his stuff, because in reality.....he's better than all of the other bands.....EVER!

So, I am biased.....sue me.
Your judgements may have been clouded by all the Skyline/Gold Star Chili and White Castles you have been eating. Wow! I miss those....send me some.
