Greg Hampton Interview

Post by RemarkablyInsincere » Mon Jul 14, 2008 6:49 pm

Great interview with Greg Hampton, Si.

A couple things I thought were interesting...

- They had some heavier pieces of music, but they went with what Alice was feeling.

- The band only played on the songs they wrote.

- At least 2 bonus tracks on iTunes. They used the word "bundle" so I'm wondering if we'll have to buy the album again on iTunes to get them.

And at the end Greg Hampton says to give the album 20 spins before condemning it. I whole heartedly agree... it's an album that only gets better with subsequent listening.
"Golly gee it's wrong to be so guilty..."

Hywel, in the top right corner of someone else's post is a quote function. You should click on that and then put your response after the "[/quote]" because you keep mixing your post with the other person's post and it confuses the reader. See above. His comment about Greg Hampton got meshed with your comment "well he aint gonna say its crap is he?" Also because I'm sure the other poster doesn't want it to look like he posted what you wrote either.

What I read is he's saying to keep an open mind; judge it, but give it a fair shake before you do.

I was going to do a post to thank Si for this interview. I loved reading it. But this should do:

 Thanks, Si!!!

The only question I have still is what are the 3 songs the band wrote? I know that The One That Got Away is one of them. But what are the other two?
PLEASE, save me from this sick man!

"(In Touch With) Your Feminine Side" and "Killed By Love".
Credits for all songs are available on ACAS page in the album section of this site.

SickthingsUK: Slash has guested with Alice before, as has Ozzy (on 'Hey Stoopid') but how did Ozzy come to be playing Harmonica on 'Wake The Dead', when Alice also plays harmonica and could have done it?

Greg Hampton: Danny and Oz originally were messing with the idea a few years ago...

What does he mean by that answer ? Is he saying Ozzy`s harnonica piece was planned that long ago.
Am I missing something ?

Great i/v Si,

It is interesting. I just re-read the interview and I feel like he was trying to be nice in saying that everyone was pulling in different directions. He said they had a lot of ideas for how it should sound, but Alice differed in some cases. He also said that Alice's musicians only played on the tracks they wrote. That seems odd. So the producers must not have liked something about those musicians. As a result they recorded the vast majority of the instruments themselves. I don't mind Slash and Ozzy contributing, but some consistency would have been nice.
