I got the limited edition scarecrow with a DVD about the music and story.
Alice plays an eerie business man who wears a top hat, that enjoys other people's pain, because then he can sell them pain relief...
Tobias describes The Toy Master as a weird song, very well suited for Alice, heavy, dark, evil.
Tobias also talks about Eric Singer when making the video for Lost in Space, saying that the plan was originally to record a video in the German studio, not a big deal. They ended up after a delayed and diverted plane, on an 8 hour bus journey in Serbia with 40 drunken men trying to get to the video shoot. Tobias talks about Eric being sat near a Serbian guy wearing many bags, and Eric asks him to move a bag that was in the way.
"These bags contain documents, I've lost them once, I wont lose them again."
Tobias says he can still see Eric sitting there muttering to himself "We'll just shoot a video in the studio in Germany, not a big deal".
Tobias says he still thinks Eric is mad at him for this, planning on being a simple shoot in Germany, he says they end up being on a bus in the snow with 40 drunken men in East "Bumf---".

I cant help it sorry.

The Alice Cooper Group apparently raised the bar way too far for Alice to match it...

I've been listening to this on YouTube since it came out, but yesterday I bought it on iTunes.

I absolutely ADORE it! The lyrics are perfect, and I love the melody. I can't stop playing it and when I don't I have it running in the back of my mind anyway! It's simple and classical, but so efficient.

There are a few things I could do without, some of the sound effects and backing voices (is it over dubbing?) it would gain from being more "raw". But all in all it's one of my favourites for now.

Do you know for sure that he had anything to do with those lyrics, though? That question was asked earlier in this thread, but I don't think it was answered.

I have the CD (old-fasioned of me, I know.) The liner notes do not list any credit for Alice other than 'Guest Vocalist'. He is not listed with a credit for either lyrics or music on 'Toy Master'. The only credit for lyrics/music on that cut is Tobias Sammet.

Thanks. This would mean that Parish can blame someone else for that lyric.

The best thing about it is Alice's vocal

And the rumor about it being the hardest song Alice ever recorded: not true. The Brutal Planet album attests to the contrary--or else, "Roses & White Lace". :nono:
I think Alice's vocals on Elected have to be placed above anything on Brutal Planet or Raise Your Fist!

Just listen to the phrasing and delivery of a master lyric and that scream!

Alice matched it with Welcome To My Nightmare

Everytime I hear this song, I'm impressed with how good it is. A fantastic tune. I don't think it's been discussed all that much for how good it is.

I don't know all that much about Tobias Sammet or Avantasia aside from this album, but I'm going to have to check out more material.

Watched a few of tobias's vids/performances on you tube..one performance he seems to have Alice's top hat and kiss's stage..lots of influences...as for this song..Alice's voice fits in well for me..but is like BP/Dragton..if Alice wanted to return to this sound, Alice could even borrow it for Welcome 2 (well the original welcome had escape on it(music orig allegedly written by others if I recall correctly)..Vgood
