And here is Spotify.

Pretty clear across YouTube and Spotify that it’s far more Alice solo than ACG and that it’s Poison which is the lead for most.

freedom and only my heart talking are quite unusual, i wouldn't have thought they would make a top streamed list.

It actually doesn't surprise me at all as I love all eras of Alice but actually slightly prefer a lot of solo Alice. Poison, internationally is Alice's biggest song ever and Wayne's World definitely made Feed My Frankenstein very popular. But I agree with Saint and Sinner, I am pleasantly surprised Freedom does so well and Only My Heart Talkin' is a surprise as well. While I have always liked that song and it seemed like it had the right sound for its time to be a hit, it didn't do that well despite the success of the Trash album and when people talk about Alice's best ballads you rarely hear it mentioned. That being said, the bottom line is Trash and to a lesser extent Hey Stoopid were smart albums for Alice to do when hair metal was ruling the charts.

If you look at the numbers of youtube streams all of the top songs had official MTV played videos.

The Spotify list has more original group songs and early solo stuff which shows the difference as to the impact having a video on MTV had on the success of a song and all these years later is still having an effect.

interesting stats....a few random observations based on Spotify numbers
- Poison is the clear runaway winner, do doubt being the most recent big hit makes a big difference
- There are 4 songs getting more than 25k listens per day (1 solo / 3 ACG) but together they still do not match Poison
- Very clear drop-off to the next batch of songs, which are all at <10k listens, and here it's mainly the Trash/HS singles first, followed by the ballads
- Almost no ACG songs outside of the main 3 hits make the list, and interestingly B$B outranks Elected

On YouTube, it seems 89-91 is the only era getting any traction..a bit bizzarre that the only older songs that get views seem to be from the Trash concert video

I'm guessing that the youtube algorithm is likely pulling the older songs from Trashes The World due to the top streams being from that era....namely Trash.

I will admit I never realized that Poison had/has the staying power it has along with the Trash album as a whole. Without a doubt it's Alice's most successful song.

Everyone on this forum knows my contempt for that album but that I understood and agreed with why it was made.

Seeing these stats in 2023 it proves that Shep and Alice were spot on when it came to their thinking and decision making back then.

It brought on a whole new generation of fans and those stats prove it. The original group fans are now literally dying off and the fans that came on board with Constrictor/ Trash are the ones keeping Alice going and after seeing these stats I now agree it would be wise to update the set list to include much more from that era.

We were in a bar on Saturday in Asheville, NC, and they were blasting a great Zeppelin mix. I asked the guy at the bar what we were listening to, and he pulled out his phone and said "it's just Spotify." A while later, he must have gotten sick of Zep, because the music changed to 80's - 90's rock stuff. I didn't hear any AC numbers, but that may explain how certain songs are played. Not active searching/listening, but just random selections for just that type of situation.
Move aside, mere drop of water - let the ocean pass.

There are many drivers behind the stats and you can analyse everything to a ridiculous level e.g. Daily streams per country run against the touring schedule to detect waves of interest as Alice moves around.

There are apparently a few facts that stand out each year
1. Every new release, every tour and every media appearance or reference has a pull on streaming across the catalogue. Alice being active keeps the catalogue alive.
2. There has been an upwards trend in overall numbers. Despite complaints about chart placing for new releases the overall popularity (defined as people playing tracks on multiple occasions) is increasing. Surely a big positive at this point in the career?
3. There are only two songs which have worldwide recognition and Poison has come first since streaming analysis started.Without them everything would be completely different.

Algorithm selections certainly do drive bigger tracks to be dropped into playlists so it will certainly make a difference. It just further boosts the numbers and I’ve no doubt Poison, Schools Out and to a lesser degree, Feed my Frankenstein all benefit.

I briefly had a ranking of 300+ Alice songs but seem to have lost it. For data nerds like me it was fascinating.

That was me who streamed Dyslexia 101,481 times. The other guy was trying to talk to his Alexa and got it by accident.

i remember about 6 odd years ago at a club night in Nottingham and all the different people were up and down, the goths would rock up for manson, thrash heads for metallica, industrial guys for NIN etc. but alice coopers poison, literally everyone hit the floor. it was fantastic. Poison is such a great song, it is genuinely one of the best singles ever.

You'd need a straight jacket listening to that rubbish that many times hahaha. Possibly my worst alice cooper song ever. i can honestly say alexa has never played anything off zipper, dada, flush the fashion, special forces etc when playing random alice cooper playlists.

Meant to point out that 922 million streams will be something like $3.7m income to be split. Not much per play but it all adds up eventually.

The algorithms must love that song. I hear it on regular over the air radio from time to time....their playlists are computer generated.

I hear it on my cable TV 1970s music channel too.

Also in Target Department Store over the in house music station.

Honestly, of all of Alice's songs it's the song I hear the most in public.
