Finally...footage surfaces from BDB Holiday (aka MOL) Tour

This is Super8 footage so unfortunately it's silent, but still, it's amazing to FINALLY find out about and view footage from the Dec. 1973 BDB Holiday Tour. The footage appears to be (some) highlights from the show and as an aside, this was one of several shows on the Tour for which an equipment truck didn't arrive on time for the show, therefore a makeshift stage had to be constructed; some footage of this is at the beginning and end of the segment. You can read more about it in Bob Greene's BDB book.

Ted

P.S. This show that was filmed took place in my hometown of Toronto (on Dec.14/'73), so it's even more exciting for me to see footage of it.

Absolutely wonderful!. While I certainly enjoy seeing the big stage on the 1973 tours, it's great to see them all together as a BAND, out front and center without the security blanket the stage gave them. I was just wondering how Dennis kept his hat on with all his moving and pretty sure The Amazing Randi is holding the Canadian flag aloft.
I had a bootleg of this show and like most boots, the sound was less than appealing, but enough to do the job. There is an announcement before the show about throwing things at the stage/performers, referring to the Toledo show the night before.
Thank You again for the footage.

You're welcome. I know of at least 2 bootleg taken from this Tour: the one you mention from this show and one that I have from Utica. The sound quality of my boot. is pretty good throughout, though one can tell that it's an audience recording.

Enjoyed the footage. Were there any supplementary musicians playing?

This was one of the shows that went on without the elaborate staging. The truck carrying the big stage stuff broke down, and they had to make do with what they could scrounge together. I could tell the moment I saw the big star over Neals drums. All in all, I'd say that the crowd probably didn't notice. The film looks great! Maybe some intrepid scholar will match the bootleg audio with this film.

That's great that they got the footage of the author playing Santa Claus getting beaten. Neal put his name on the drum basses?

He's synced some audio with it, so that's a treat

I was thinking about trying my hand at that but quickly lost patience and gave up. Glad he did it

^^ Thanks for the link with the 'upgraded' footage. The guy did a good job in syncing the audio, thereby improving the viewing experience a lot.

The synced footage is great. You can really see how they reverted to their roots for that show. Dennis had a fire extinguisher at the end and was probably wishing for a pillow.

Greene's account rings pretty true here.
