Brighton, 11th Feb 1982 - my first Alice gig. Couldn't get a ticket for Glasgow so had to travel from the (very) north of Scotland down to Brighton. It was worth it :)

Did Big Country get loads of abuse from the audience?

Not quite 40 yrs for the Glasgow gig yet but great memories coming back. My first time as well and a week out from the gig I was hyper. Big Country weren’t in Glasgow and I can’t remember the support here at all just now.

My journey to the gig was probably less than 1% of yours at 5 miles.

Just compared the set lists between 72 and 82 in Glasgow. Quite a change.

1 Public animal #9
2 Caught in a dream
3 Under my wheels
4 Be my lover
5 I'm eighteen
6 I'ts my body
7 Halo of flies
8 Gutter cats V the jets
9 Killer
10 Elected Schools Out

Setlist
1 Who do you think we are ?
2 Model Citizen
3 Goes to hell
4 Guilty
5 Eighteen
6 Cold Ethyl
7 Only women bleed
8 No more Mr Nice Guy
9 Clones (we're all))
10 Under my wheels
11 I never cry
12 7 + 7
13 Grim facts
14 Pain
15 Billion Dollar Baby
16 Generation Landslide
17 Who do you think we are ? (reprise)
18 School's out

I have to wait until the 15th Feb at the Hammersmith for my 40th anniversary at the Hammersmith, what a night that was , you could cut the atmosphere with a knife as the cliche goes

I went to Hammersmith on the 14th and 16th as well. 15th had sold out by the time I tried to get a ticket - I think the whole UK tour eventually sold out.

Yes they did and to be fair they were a band that wasn`t prepared enough and were maybe not the right choice , strange how quick things change , in 1984 when Elton John played Wembley Stadium Paul Young was billed as top of the support acts , thankfully for us he was taken ill and had to pull out , in the afternoon it was announced he would not playing and the promoters had managed to stop Big Country from boarding a channel ferry and were being driven back to London , lets just say they were a different band ,really tight and went down fantastic with the crowd what ever they got paid for that gig was a bargain for the promoters , RIP Stuart Adamson
It must be true A_Michael said so

Did Brighton, all three shows in London and the first night in Manchester. Then we headed home to Sweden on a 12 hour boat trip from Harwich to Esbjerg, Denmark 6 hours byn train to Copenhagen and finally the boat from Copenhagen to Malmö.

It was worth it :)

Brought a Super 8mm film camera to Brighton but not much came out of it.
