Killer - 50 Years Later

Post by While Heaven Wept » Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:28 am

Hey everyone. Long time Sickthing here. Just thought i'd let you all know of a project i'm working on to pay tribute to Killer. On it's 50th anniversary this November 27th, we will be releasing a tribute LP. The entire album re-recorded by eight underground heavy rock and psych bands.

I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to have a look at our Kickstarter campaign below:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pa ... ears-later

And a big thank you to Si for sharing this on the news page.

Cheers
Dan

Hi,
I have subscribed to the Kickstarted.
It seems at the moment it only misses 15£ to be fully funded.
One more fan order and we are good !

Hey! Sorry for replying late, been very hectic with the Kickstarter. No, this is not authorised although we have reached out to all concerned to see if they would like to be involved in any way. It will be fully licensed however.

Just an update, we have easily exceeded the Kickstarter target for this so thanks to all those who have got involved, I know there is quite a few of you on here who has pledged which i deeply appreciate.

The good news is, we are talking to a number of other bands now to supply additional bonus tracks. To go along with the theme we are ensuring it sticks to the Alice Cooper group period.

Just a question.
Are we now talking about a handful of extra tracks or a double CD?
If it stays a single CD release I'm interested in a couple of ACG covers but, if it expands
into the ACG catalogue - please focus on "Killer" for 1 & a 2nd disc of awesome of ACG "Non - Killer" tracks!
I'll buy into that! :8):

It won't be a double CD. There's plenty of room on a standard CD to fit more tracks, especially as Killer was quite a compact length originally. The bonus tracks will be a selection from the other Alice Cooper group albums. Probably looking at 3 or 4 bonus tracks altogether.

Thanks, I was just gauging the amount of interest & available funds to go a bit farther.
Killer with a handful of bonus would be a keeper also! :alice:
P.S. Is anybody considering a cover version of "My Stars"?

Hi

I'm please that the project is funded and also with the additional material.

I hope that like on the original there will not be a gap between Dead Babies and Killer, although if the songs are covered by different bands it may be difficult. But personally, I Need these two song to be merged. That's the way !

Is there a full list of groups/songs ?

We will be re-creating the cross fade as per the original. A full list of bands can be found on the Kickstarter page :)

I can't confirm which songs will be chosen for the bonus tracks yet, although as of now we have a mixture of songs from the albums B$B, LITD and MOL.

Hi Dan - A worthy venture! It's nice to hear such talent inspired by such a great album. (See my avatar) Halo of Flies is great, especially when the singer nails the "FLIIIIIEEEEEESSSS." Wish the drums were louder, but hey. The vocals on both songs were strong and a fitting tribute. Good stuff!
