Steven Crayn is from Detroit or maybe Ireland. I'm not sure.

Ted
I know Ted.
Re: Detroit Stories Review
This one reckons Mr Crayn has "one of the best guitar solos on the album".

Re: Detroit Stories Review
Yeah seen a few people posting about how they've beaten the queue and got theirs early. My guess is they've acquired from independent record stores as they all appear to be vinyl's I've seen.
Re: Detroit Stories Review
I doubt we will ever see another Alice Cooper album that starts of with 3 cover songs.
Re: Detroit Stories Review
Except "Go, Man, Go" is an original, unless you count it being previously released on the Breadcrumps EP as it being a cover for some reason.
"You, sir, are a demented, sick, degenerate, barbaric, naughty freako."
Re: Detroit Stories Review
I think more casual rock fans are aware of this release than other recent albums when they came out. It has been well marketed and hyped. I think it is going to do not bad. I personally thought Breadcrumbs was his best sounding release since Brutal Planet so I think this will be good as well.
Re: Detroit Stories Review
I’m going to be creating at least 2, maybe 3 different versions of this.
The first will feature the current track list, with Your Mama Won’t Like Me and Devil with a Blue Dress On /Chains of Love added. I love these ones off Breadcrumbs and think they could have been included, but I understand why the decision was made not to include them.
The second will have only the songs from DS which are not from Breadcrumbs. I haven’t heard the covers before, so they come off as originals to me so no worries there.
The third iteration will have the album in its intended form.
Can’t wait for the release. I pre-ordered the Good Records splatter vinyl which I also can’t wait for

Things get lost in translation
Lead guitar on Social Debris. Album on iTunes, Amazon & Spotify, title track featured on TV
Re: Detroit Stories Review
Album is now on Spotify (Netherlands)
Re: Detroit Stories Review
Ok, I spinned it now once.
7 songs good / 5 songs growers / 4 songs rubbisch (for me).
Overall on first listening it's a good album, better as I expected.

Long article in today's Guardian re Alice Cooper and 'The Detroit Scene':https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/ ... troit-rock
And a lengthy review that reckons the album is "a late-life classic":https://www.loudersound.com/reviews/ali ... n-50-years
I've just listened to DS for the third time on Spotify. Will post my own review later on.

Re: Detroit Stories Review
As I listened to the album, I felt that it is a rather strong one, but something felt “off” to me with the 4 songs that were included from the Breadcrumbs EP, so I listened to those 4 back to back with their earlier counterparts.
The same issue arises with me as all the other albums Ezrin has produced. The mix. The Breadcrumbs version of the songs have incredible dynamics. The low end, drums, and bass are not stealing from the definition of the guitars, so you can hear the full bite of the guitar tone and it’s fuzz. The drums are pushed back in the mix and sounds good in the mix instead of being at the forefront of the album’s modern mix. Detroit Stories mix instead sucks a lot of the character out of the music, but overall, the songs are winners.
Thankfully this album has a less muddy and more listenable mix than Paranormal, but these songs would have sounded much better with the mix from Breadcrumbs considering that it is essentially a classic rock album. Easily the best album since the reuniting with Ezrin as producer in my opinion though.
