Re: New live CD listed for february release
I don't have a problem with an artist releasing many live albums, as long as such artist keeps releasing studio albums quite frequently. There are surely bands who, at a certain point of their career, start to put out many live albums, cover albums, compilation albums, unplugged albums, remake-albums and so on, and quite often this goes hand in hand with a decrease in studio releases, but that is not really the case with AC the way I see it.
One can discuss the quality of his studio efforts, maybe, but not the quantity if compared to many other acts.
Also, most of the recent AC live releases have come in video too, while in VHS era this was not as common as it is today. Being strict, the only "proper" AC live albums are AC Show, Fistful and this next NMMNG, a very small number when considering the amount of his studio discography.
Otherwise, we could consider Brutally Live, The Nightmare Returns, Trashes The World, Theatre of Death, Live in Montreaux, Good to See You Again, WTMN video, The Strange Case as live albums too, they make a good bunch of live releases but personally I am very happy AC has done them!

Re: New live CD listed for february release
THere is a difference between some of the films you list and others. Brutally Live, and Theatre Of Death were originally released as packages that included audio CDs, and as such they are closer to "proper" live albums then simply live DVD's.
Personaly, I wouldn`t consider TNR, TTW, Strange Case etc as live albums as they were purely VHS/DVD releases, but the ones that were originally released with audio CDs included should surely be part of an official CD discography. Theatre Of Death even came in two different packages, a CD style package and a DVD style package.

Re: New live CD listed for february release
Yup, guess so. It's a quick win just to re-release the concert DVD's with a bonus CD mind. They did it with Brutally Live and I expect a lot of us purchased that again (I know I did).
Re: New live CD listed for february release
I kind of concur with with Si in that I think those that are merely including the live album as a CD audio in the DVD package can hardly be referred to as an official live album release as such.
I just think it is a modern thing to release more live stuff. What is different is that subsequent 'live albums' feature some of the same songs. Historically (in the 70s for example), that wasn't the case, if an artist was putting out a second live album, for example, they endeavoured not to include tracks from the first live album.

I think this is generally true, but there were exceptions (GFR pops to mind, right away)

Re: New live CD listed for february release
Consider this: In the seventies, if it was a single LP, they'd only use about half of the setlist for the album. Therefore I'd be easier release a different set of songs. A live double-LP would be a different story.
Re: New live CD listed for february release
On Amazon UK the new live disc is listed as a box set...anyone got any info as to if this is correct information.

Anything more than one disc and amazon always seem to call it a box set.rgallie wrote:On Amazon UK the new live disc is listed as a box set...anyone got any info as to if this is correct information.

Re: New live CD listed for february release
Play are showing this as a 3-disc set with a later release date of March 26th...

Disc 1
The Black Widow
Brutal Planet
Im Eighteen
Under my Wheels
Billion Dollar Babies
No More Mr Nice Guy
Hey Stoopid
Is it my Body?
Halo of Flies
Disc 2
Ill Bite your Face Off
Muscle of Love
Only Women Bleed
Cold Ethyl
Feed my Frankenstein
Clones
Poison
Wicked Young Man
I Love the Dead

Includes an extra disc with MP3 versions of all the tracks.
Ooh...an extra CD of MP3s I just hope it's mixed better than the Concert Live release of the Birmingham show (barely audible backing vocals and guitar in many tracks) and then there's the awful fade-in of IBYFO and Elected...

Re: New live CD listed for february release
Was this released yet or has it been delayed until March 26th?
Amazon lists it as an import with a 2/21 release date.

Re: New live CD listed for february release
Interesting. It's almost like ConcertLive heard there was going to be a proper release for the show and clouded the waters by trying to release their version through amazon etc.
Maybe THIS is the remastered "Proper" version.
