Titanic Overture
Hi Dennis
Was Titanic Overture originally a more substantial track?
I ask as you obviously have the piano come in only for it to fade out soon after.
Thanks!

Re: Titanic Overture
Whitney Recording Studios in Glendale, near Burbank, California famously had a 1928 vintage organ from an old Fox movie theater. The studio recorded songs for Disney Studios before some rock artists started recording there.
The walls of the studio housed organ pipes from very large to very small. The baffled walls would open or close depending on the desired volume.
When our session time was running out, Michael sat down at the organ and started playing a melody he had been kicking around. We thought it sounded like what the organist might have been playing when the Titanic went down, hence the fade right when the piano came in. Initially, we imagined it being the final song on the album.
Glen and I were inside the wall with the loud pipes during the recording. It was amazing and loud!
I liked the unusual texture that the song brought to the album, but I'm still disappointed that we didn't use that session time to record "Nobody Likes Me".

Re: Titanic Overture
Awesome response, thanks Dennis!
Yes, it was a real shame about Nobody Likes Me, but at least we have the demo on Old School and the great rendition on PFY NY with Nick and the guys!

I love Pretties For You. I've always thought of it as a great psychedelic garage album akin to what The 13th Floor Elevators were producing. Titanic Overture is my favourite track! Nobody Likes Me is a fantastic song too.
Re: Titanic Overture
I always liked TO and it would be a great opening for the show.

Re: Titanic Overture
What a great idea. Would really add atmosphere to the start of the show

This is the guitar arrangement of "Titanic Overture" by Nick Didkovsky.
I had heard this before I met Nick. We've done lots of music together since then.
