Re: big announcement on CNN
Also hoping it's announcement about a full album with original band, but not sure that is CNN worthy.

Re: Johnny Depp Domestic Violence Controversy
That's true but she has already posted a photo of herself with bruises on her face. Whatever the fate of the band this will probably be a defining moment for Depp.

Johnny Depp Domestic Violence Controversy
It has just been reported that Johnny Depp has been accused of domestic violence by his wife. It's a big news story and may have repercussions for the tour and the band.

Re: Alice's Facebook Page
I can't believe this is a topic of conversation. It surprises me that anyone would expect a Facebook page to be anything but promotion and hawking.

Re: New Album!
These are all amazingly talented people and they have a chance to really make a musical statement. Be daring! Give us a couple songs that are over 5-6 minutes long. Don't play it safe. David Bowie's Black Star is an incredible album by an artist that was nearly 70 years old. I think Alice needs to b...

Re: New Album!
I say go all the way with the classic band concept. Sink or swim with it. Alice's albums don't sell very well so nothing would be lost. Worse would be a mishmash of different types of sounds between the classic band and the new one. If the goal is to be like Killer, that means a lot more instrumenta...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?
However he still was not anymore successful in sales all the time. This was why I said that they did not drastically outperform each other, because even though Bowie charted better, his sales did not outperform Alice (and if they did, it was not by a a lot which would be expected due to the major g...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?
Based on sales figures that I have found, Bowie nor Alice drastically outperformed one another between '76 and '80 in the U.S. This didn't sound correct to me either so I looked it up based on chart positions and Alice had a higher charting album in 1975 and after that it was all Bowie to the end o...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?
A lot of it had to do with their respective fan bases. Bowie's fan base was more open to his changing personas every few years. They were open to his changing styles. The fans that were there for Ziggy Stardust were still there and supported him with "Let's Dance". When Alice started to branch out ...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?
On a related note I just saw Bob Ezrin's name trending tonight and feared the worst. Luckily it wasn't about his health but he's currently in a very public feud with Kanye West! Apparently Bob called Kanye guilty of "excessive behavior, egomaniacal tantrums, and tasteless grandstanding," among other...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?
They all took for granted that the fans would grow with Alice and accept that he was trying to move forward as an artist and try new things. Except it wasn't moving forward "as an artist" to be more middle-of-the-road. There's nothing ambitious artistically about that. Bowie, on the other hand, was...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?
ACGTH was very badly received by fans at the time of release. Most rocks fans wanted rock music, but ACGTH was too many other styles. One person I know loved the song GTH but hated the ballads, so he saved money by buying INC single because GTH was on the flip side and he wanted the song but didn't ...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?
What do "preconceived notions" have to do with anything? All you have to do is look at the cover art and......the title! It was the sequel to the album that gave rise to the classic horror Alice character. The album was meant to be a "horror" Alice album. There's good "horror" Alice and bad "horror...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?
I'll be honest, I always felt the title to be juvenile and played too much into the preconceived notions about "horror character" Alice. I think something a bit more subtle might have better served the song and Alice better since it's a terrific song. Agree on song title, but disagree on it being a...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?
I totally disagree. Either the songs are good or they're not, irrespective of the style. Would you say the same about "Welcome To My Nightmare"? Are you really saying it isn't "cohesive"? Being "cohesive" isn't as important as starting out with great songs. The challenge after that is to arrange th...

Re: Bob Ezrin - Still worthy?
I think it's time to move on from Bob Ezrin. The strengths of working together no longer outweigh the weaknesses and this was demonstrated on W2MN. Alice and Bob get too distracted trying to be light-hearted and funny, to the detriment of the material. Also, they do not put out cohesive musical albu...

Re: Alice writing with Mike, Neal, Den.
I agree, overall this is excellent news. An album of new material by HV is promising, especially with songwriting divided among the band including Joe Perry. I'm not as excited about 2-3 songs on the next solo album by the original band. The reason I was hoping for a full band album is the sound of ...
