Re: "Road" - Reviews

I rarely bother with reviews like the ones above as they are invariably 9/10 and this is amazing etc etc. That stupid metal rag Kerrang was the worst in that regard.

I'll listen objectively as always though I'm completely turned off by shredding and metal.

Mansions

Couple of questions: 1) While you guys were literally starving in LA you move into a Mansion in the Hollywood Hills that Cindy found. How the hell do you pull that off financially? Did Shep keep you guys out of sight when meeting with the landlord? 2) Do you remember what the rent was for that one a...

Song Writing Credits And Percentages

Hi Dennis, Finally got 'round to picking up Snakes courtesy of my local library. Brilliant read! The writing style puts the reader in the thick of the things and gives us a real feel of what type of characters you were. Kudos to you and Chris. Mike Bruce appeared to be the one who pushed for individ...

Re: DaDa as a Concept Album?

It's not the best recording out there due to the noisy surroundings but there's an Interview out there with Dick Wagner talking about Da Da. I don't believe Alice, Ezrin or Shep have ever mentioned much about it and they are the ones that know. Very sad. It was the last hurrah for me. Alice could re...

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

If anything can be taken away from this, it’s the idea that the slow trickle of teasers and songs can be counterproductive. Call me old school, but I’d be willing to wager that a silent release would be better for everyone. There has been a lot of negativity here, and it may wind up hurting sales. ...

Re: Alice says he had nothing to do with "Killer" and "School's Out" remasters

I doubt it would take months remastering an album. I think the Steve Hoffman ones were done in a day. Two at the most. Longer than that and it would start to get cost prohibitive. That’s Steve Hoffman’s time. He’s not involved with the conception of the project, sorting out licensing for the record...

I doubt it would take months remastering an album. I think the Steve Hoffman ones were done in a day. Two at the most. Longer than that and it would start to get cost prohibitive. I'm starting to think remastering is a bit of a waste of time if you can easily pick up the original albums. The meat an...

Re: Today “Toodie” Mueller

It's one of the better songs on the album as it's short and doesn't outstay its welcome. I guess I have I have been singing the lyrics wrong for 50 years. Always thought it was " Happy slappin tappin patio " not Paddy-Oh!

Re: Maui

Firstly I assume Shep and family are all safe , I know the fires were in a different location but in the overall scheme were not too far away. Secondly would be good to see Shep / Alice organise a fundraiser , like the one Alice performed at in Australia I'm sure something will happen when appropri...

Re: Alice says he had nothing to do with "Killer" and "School's Out" remasters

These albums are too important for Alice to not be involved in remastering. This is not the first remastering of these two albums. Steve Hoffman did both some years back. Most artists aren't involved with remasters. Ezrin wasn't involved with the Hoffman ones. Michael Bruce offered to be there for ...

Yes he asked it exactly. He didn't knew that the final relase had a different order. It's not his business after the recording.

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

If the clips from Hellfest in that interview from EarMusic are any indication, it looks like they messed with the color timing in post production again like on the Paranormal Evening DVd/blu ray. Why do they keep doing that to these live shows??? They work so hard to craft the color of the live sho...

Re: Slow Growing Albums

Killer and Love It To Death. I got School's Out an was in love with it. Christmas that year I got LITD and Killer. They both took about 4 or 5 plays. I really didn't know too much about music at that time. I was 12-13 years old and had two albums: Slade Alive and Bolan Boogie. Once I started to get ...

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

I was kind of hoping for a rawer "live" sound with this album. I'm no musician and I have no idea how a song gets mixed. I don't know if all parts are recorded separately or recorded together. I assume it's some combination of the two. The reason I mention this is that on these songs and on Detroit...
