Re: "Road" - Reviews

The question is could the HV survive if they don't bring Nita on board? I know its dripping with sarcasm but i dont get the nita hate being banded around. That's a Bingo! I've started a "I hate Nita" thread so we can get this one back on track. I won't be mad if the other thread goes away. I'm just...

Re: "Road" - Reviews

Let's get back to talking about the album. I have a Spotify list that contains all the available studio albums*. I like playing it in shuffle, because I hear things I'd completely forgotten about. Every time a "Road" song comes on, it really stands out. Go ahead and joke, but I think the album is a...

Re: If You Could Interview Alice...

Alice, your "fans" describe their unhappiness with practically everything you do. Doesn't that get exhausting?

How many times have you seen an Alice concert?

11 here. I started in 1986 at the Landmark Theater in Syracuse, NY. Of all my years seeing a large assortment of bands, I still think that was one of the best entrances I’ve ever seen.

Re: What's the farthest you've ever traveled to see Alice?

I think you may have gotten the topic wrong... the prize is not how far away but, how near did he play? Travel makes the Concert not just an event but, an adventure. Nothing wrong with that. Who will top whom? I've never left the Free State for a show but, the last time I saw Alice he played less t...

Re: Welcome to my nightmare - new 2lp + SACD

Personally, I'm kind of burned out on 45rpm LPs. Sure, it sounds nice, but it's twice the effort of a regular LP. Besides, is anyone making money on these besides the record company?

I know that I'm not the winner, but London, England, from Wisconsin, USA.
That’s a long way to go! Looks like a 12 hour flight from Chicago to Heathrow. Hope the band waited until you got there. (You are the winner so far :alice: )

What's the farthest you've ever traveled to see Alice?

4.5 hours (one way) for me. Fortunately, we didn't need a hotel.

Re: Is Alice’s future outside the US and Canada?

That's a darn fine question. I've always thought that most audiences outside of the USA were more dedicated than us Americans. How wrong am I to chalk up some of that to population concentration? The USA is way bigger and more spread out. Sure... we turn out, yell, clap, and holler, but man! Crowd ...

Re: Alice “Special Forces” interview.

The “dinosaur” label didn’t come from me. Alice was lumped in with numerous other groups from the 70s who the “advanced set” saw as archaic. A lot of rockers suffered during the early 80s. I didn’t agree, but it was there. Maybe if he opened for Oingo Boingo or Scritti Politti it may have opened so...

Re: Alice “Special Forces” interview.

I don't like to disagree with the idea, but Alice and MTV were not made for each other. Sure, there were lots of bands from the late 70s that made a splash on the channel, but Alice Cooper was seen as a dinosaur to the forward-thinking audience that MTV was appealing to. It certainly would have tak...

Re: Alice “Special Forces” interview.

One of the things I took away from the video is his emphasis on “the band.” He mentions the Yardbirds, and then he talks about his band and how they sound like a band because they’re a band , and… It seems almost like he’s trying to sell that idea to himself. It makes me wonder about inner regrets ...

Alice “Special Forces” interview.

Never saw this before today. It’s a good sized chunk of raw video interview with Alice in 1981. He gives quite a bit of insight to the “new” album.

Re: "Road" - Reviews

I got to say that’s why I hate most record reviews. That guy took about 4 very long paragraphs before he even mentioned the album. He thinks it’s sub par, thats fine but it was like reading a high schooler book report where he had to use at least 2,000 words. Short on substance and long on wind. I ...

Maybe THIS CLIP will Thrill Your Gorilla. This is the year before Glen joined Alice. Maybe it's even part of the reason Alice wanted him? Either way, this is a great example of his numerous strengths. (The audio is substandard by today's definitions, but his timing is impeccable!)

Rubbish drum solo? Not good enough? You are absolutely wrong. Opinions are opinions, but that statement is ridiculous. Fair enough, I'm glad you like it. I can only speak from my view, I'm a drummer and its technically not that good and too hap hazard (especially the random hi hat hits)to be in kee...
